Stopped here for two nights on our anniversary trip of southern Iceland. Couldn’t of been happier with it. My husband complained about the firmness of the mattress but I didn’t mind it. Gorgeous lobby. Restaurant was very good. I love how the hotel doesn’t detract from the surrounding area but almost blends in and seems part of the landscape. Owner was very nice. Only request would be bedside lamps in the room. The only lamp across the room on a desk didn’t have a light bulb in it. Bathroom was beautiful. Very clean. Highly recommend and hope to be back some day.

Great hotel. Very modern and they serve dinner. We only ate dinner the one night since it was the same menu the next night but it was good and upper class. A good location on the south coast and a private black beach behind the hotel. I really liked it.

My family and I stayed here in three rooms while we toured Vik area.

Very nice hotel on the inside in a quiet location, but not far from highway.

Helpful front desk.

Good food at restaurant. Be aware the small mini-marts in the area close early, think around 5PM.

Stylish room, although no storage. No dressers, no drawers in nightstands or in bathrooms.

Would stay again happily.

We traveled around the Ring Road and the UMI Hotel was one of our favorites! Really cool vibe, very friendly, the room was very clean and the beds comfortable. I ate dinner in their restaurant and enjoyed the best bowl of lobster soup ever, yum! Their breakfast spread was very nice too. Great views. You can't go wrong with a stay here!

It is beautiful: a stark modern design in a quiet field with a view of snow capped mountains and the sea. The lobby and interior rooms are also beautiful and posh.

Here comes the "but": the mattress (while comfortable) only had a sheet on it, no pad. You could see the mattress pattern and feel the texture of it. On night 2, the water started pulsing on and off. They sent staff, who thought it was a problem in our room, but, we told him it was a system problem in the building. He did manage to fix the pump and 30 minutes later it was normal again.

Less than an hour later, we lost WiFi and TV. Another walk to the front desk where the staff quickly responded and started resetting all the routers and got TV going, but we want to sleep with emails unsent.

Again, great location, nice staff, and beautiful, but not worth $400/night.

The breakfast buffet was good, but the dinner menu was really pricey.

Thank you for your review. The electricity broke down in the entire district because of a lightning and it took the power company two days to find out the problem and fix it. It's very unfortunate that it happened while you were staying with us but things like this we unfortunately cannot control, it affected all our electric equipment and the water pump. We have already ordered protective covers for the bed so if you decide to stay with us again they will be there and no power or water problems :)
