Lovely hotel, with hot tub right outside our room. Nice 'cabin' style room and lovely bathroom. Excellent service at Reception, restaurant etc.

This was the only hotel in Iceland we ate an evening meal at - and forums suggesting Iceland is expensive for food are not wrong! We did have 4 courses and wine but £150 just about covered it! Needless to say why we only had one 'special' meal! Stayed at Hotel Budir and Klauster also. Ranga was the most convenient, especially if your stay is short as is relatively close to the Golden Circle etc, and the local towns have much more amenities than you will find elsewhere away from Reykjavik.

Breakfast was the best we had, and generally the hotel was the nicest we stayed in.

Every aspect of this hotel was marvellous.

The staff and service were brilliant. The food, including a special Christmas buffet was of the highest standard, and although relatively expensive, excellent value for money compared with London restuarants.

Following a huge snowfall one night, the drive to the main road was cleared immediately next day by snow plough.

The hottubs were great, and when my son lost his watch, of little value, in the snow one evening, the staff searched and returned it to him.

Lovely location, perfect for access to main sights of interest in South Iceland.

Traveling through Southern Iceland was going to be amazing no matter where we stayed but this Hotel, that appears to be in the middle of nowhere, was one of the many highlights of our trip. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be warm, gracious, sincere and committed to providing us with a superb experience. The manager, Bjorn, was more than helpful with his local knowledge and insights and as it turned out we learned that we went to rival High Schools North of Chicago, at differant times of course. Kolbrun or "Kolla" was one of the spectacular front desk team that couldn't do enough for us. Not only did she recommend our next hotel but she called ahead and gladly made the reservations for us. It was particularly sweet of her to find my wife and I to say good-bye before she left work on our last night because she wasn't going to see us the next day.
The restaurant is also a must, even if your not staying there. A great selection of local fare from Puffin to Reindeer for dinner and their breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. All in all, our stay at The Hotel Ranga was just one more experience that made our visit to Iceland very special and very memorable.

This is a must if you are traveling in South Iceland. It was such a good surprise to find a wonderful hotel there. Rooms are very good
and the food were the best we had in Iceland. Expensive but worth
it. My kids loved it too.

Me and my son went to explore Iceland and we had a great time !! Ranga hotel was situatad perfect for enjoying the differrent sites, waterfalls, glaciers, fishing rivers....
The hotel itself was a very pleasent aqaintence, with fine service, comfortable rooms, nice outdoor jacuzzi´s with a beutiful veiw of the mountains, and the food was fabulous too say the least !! Sitting in the dining room and enjoying the food and at the same time looking out over the landscape was very pleasing and to top it off we could also watch the anglers fish the Ranga river for atlantic salmon !!!
I would definetley reccomend it, as I don´t feel that there can be a better total concept for your stay in-on Iceland

We spent our final 3 nights in Iceland in this hotel having driven around the east of the island and then back through the highlands in a 4x4. We'd stayed in 8 other hotels on our trip and this was by far the best.
They were still carrying out building works but the workmen didn't start until after 08.30 and had finished by 17.30 and it did not bother us at all. Our room was very large with a hot tub just outside which was very enjoyable. Had some nice touches like a jacuzzi bath, chocolates by bed every day and 4 robes so they could be used to get to hot tub and back as well as having dry ones for bathing.
Staff were very helpful and manager come round at dinner to check everyone was happy. Yes the meals were expensive but they were of a very high quality and the wine list was excellent. Breakfast was wonderful. We had room service one night and that was a lot cheaper but quality and presentation still very good.
This was a lovely end to an unforgettable holiday.

I stayed at the hotel for my birthday. It was wonderful! Coming from US I was nervous that I didn't know the language, but everyone spoke English and made me feel very comfortable. Being a huge seafood fanatic, I could not believe how amazing and fresh everything was. Thanks to the chef - everything was just yummy! Went to see the waterfalls with my husband - breathtaking.
Really enjoyed my stay and will be coming back next year.
