This place is SO AMAZING. Yes, it's very expensive. But yes, it is absolutely worth it. Do what you have to do, skimp on the rest of your trip, just so that you can stay here at least one night.
The beds are heavenly, high quality linens, all that. The rooms are very nicely appointed. Not over the top luxury, but everything is well thought out, high quality, and the views are spectacular. You look out your window to moss covered lava rocks, and even if that doesn't sound beautiful, it really is. It is so peaceful and designed very stylishly.
This hotel has it's own private lagoon. The locker room is very nice. The lagoon is the best place on earth, especially in the winter. The kind of place that you will spend the rest of your life thinking about!!! No, I'm not exaggerating.
The hotel encouraged us to visit the main lagoon as well, and guests get a VIP kind of pass. We went over, with a ride from someone at the hotel (it was very cold when we were there). Spent time in line, crowded locker rooms, then finding a hook outside for our robes.... There were free drinks in the lagoon, as well as free spa treatments. Honestly, if we didn't know anything about our private lagoon, this would have felt amazing. But after about two hours, we felt it was too crowded and noisy, and...This place is SO AMAZING. Breakfast is incredible. No complaints. Food for lunch and dinner is a little pricey, for being not too exciting. They do encourage you to eat at the nice restaurant at the Blue Lagoon, which is worth the splurge. However, for a hotel as nice and luxurious as the Silica, I do think they need to have a slightly bigger food menu, for people who don't want to venture out. And more of a bar- I think it was a pay to bring to your room kind of thing, but I might be wrong.
I can't wait to go back some day! Hopefully soon.More
