“Uniquely Beautiful”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Stayed here one night-- the first night arriving in Iceland. It really exceeded my expectations. Each room has floor to ceiling windows and a private deck overlooking a lava field. If you stay here, you have access to a private lagoon. Although there is something to be said for both the main, large lagoon as well as the clinic's private lagoon, the private one is much more serene. As for the clinic/hotel itself, yes, the rooms are basic and minimalist. But for me, this added positively to the atmosphere, as the focus was on the beautiful natural surroundings that the blue lagoon clinic is built within.

My husband and I stayed here on our last night in Iceland. It's not a great hotel. I think the rooms smell like a doctor's office, but my husband says they smell fine. The beds are super soft, as in too soft. The service ppl are quite snobby. Breakfast is included with your stay, and is good. The best thing about booking a night here is your free pass to the blue lagoon. It might be a tourist trap, but it was still very enjoyable. The clinic/hotel side has a private lagoon open at certain hours to use. This private side is better than the public Blue Lagoon, which is just a short walk away. When you go to the Blue Lagoon you walk over there with a bag like your heading to the gym. The bathrobes and towels at the Lagoon are included in your free pass. You change in their changing rooms, shower without your suit (they have private enclosures), and then you can head out to the lagoon. My favorite part of the entire Blue Lagoon experience was the shower. The water gets really hot and you get to use the Blue Lagoon brand of shower gel and conditioner. I didn't see any lotion on the public side, but in the private clinic area - there are big vats of lotion to slather on. I really think it's a good deal if you book the clinic to stay overnight and use the lagoon. We dipped in the Lagoon twice. I only gave it 3 stars because of the smell. And lack of direction from the service staff. You really have to ask where to go and what not.

If you are going to Iceland, I recommend a night at the Blue Lagoon Clinic. It is an experience like no other. This is a small boutique hotel with 15 rooms. I heard it was only in the last couple of years guests without skin disorders were allowed to stay. I would have expected more personal service from a hotel with 15 rooms. For example, it was my wife's birthday, I indicated that on the reservation and at the time of check in, but nothing was done. Also I would have expected a little tour of the hotel on check in. A hotel with 15 rooms, I feel they could have made it more personalized. Things to know: In April it was cold and the walk from the Clinic to the lagoon is a good 10 minutes, dress warm. The clinic pool at night is incredible.

We stayed two days one night at the clinic. rooms were amazing, comfortable, lots of living space in and out of our rooms, With staying at the hotel/clinic it included your entrance to the large Blue Lagoon, incl also you towels, and robes, lockers etc, their braclett system for lockers and services was efficient. lots of parking, free, the clinic also offered private bathing in the hotel area and had its own lagoon with extended hours for guests. Staff also walked around with tablets and took your pictures and emailed them to you at no charge, how nice was that? Lots of staff, front desk was more than pleasant, english no issues. Hotel included breakfast and that was amazing, as well as coffee and tea all day. We ate at the Lava restaurant, i was not overly impressed with that, the staff was not overly friendly i found, not bad but not like the others, the food was way overpriced and selection limited, beef was not great but was 60.00 pp, fish was 48.00 pp. found out hotel had a smaller dinner for around 35.00 pp that was not as elaborate but would have been perfect for us if we had known ahead of time, but it was all ok, no issues at all. i suggest anyone going here to stay over at the hotel if possible.

I'll start by pointing out that this quietly elegant hotel is also a clinic for people with skin disorders, so if that wigs you out, seek elsewhere. If not, check into this property and enjoy quiet elegance that includes its own private "Blue Lagoon," minus the crowds and overflowing with silica mud masks. Enjoy the meals they provide and the personal service, and free passes to the more commercial Blue Lagoon facility.

Everyone at the facility was friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, and I wish I could have stayed a week!

Stayed at this hotel, which is 20mins drive from the Keflavik airport. amazing place, beautiful sorounds. had a lovely room that had was totally glass window on the one side which over looked the rocky hills and was able to view the beautiful sun set! good breakfast choices, basic cold meats and cereal. they also have a small pool with the lagoon sea water that is open to members only till 11am, so you can get started on the Blue Lagoon experience straight away! Lagoon itself is a brisk 10mins walk, through a rocky pathway but such breath taking views of the sea and water and rocks whilst you get to the Lagoon. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed in room 15 which is on the side that overlooks the lava field, facing the blue lagoon complex. Room was quiet, spacious and furnished to a high (although minimalist) standard. There is a kettle but no tea and coffee provided (other than some herbal tea bags). The hotel itself is very minimalist which complements the surroundings well.

Its a short walk to the main blue lagoon, entry to which is included as well as free robes and towels. The private lagoon can only be used for a few hours in the morning and again for a few hours in the evening, but we found that this was enough. Bathing under the stars was just simply wonderful.

The breakfast was adequate but again minimalist.

We even got to see the northern lights as the hotel reception phoned us in the middle of the night to inform us that they were out (a nice surprise).

Its worth noting that if arriving by car the main entrance and car park to the hotel is a short drive further down the main road from the main entrance to the blue lagoon itself. There is a footpath linking the two which is about a 5 or 10 minute walk.

Wifi was only available in the communal areas, although as our room was next to the lounge we managed to pick it up in room.

I wouldn't hesitate to return, although we stayed in March I think it does get a little expensive during the summer months, but in my opinion Iceland is best visited in late winter/early spring anyway.

Room Tip: There are 15 rooms in total, we stayed in room 15, I would recommend the higher the number the bette...
