Since I went all the way to Blue Lagoon in Iceland, I thought that I should definitely stay the night.

I regretted my decision, because there was nothing special about it.

It is actually a clinic that sees mostly patients with skin concerns who seeks treatment for maybe a week or two.

So everything was very straightforward and the place was extremely quiet.

The receptionist was nice and always ready to assist with questions.

Of course being at Blue Lagoon, you should not be doing anything else apart from soaking in the geothermal waters. But that closes at night.

If you are a huge fan of the geothermal spa, then staying at the clinic may be an option because you will have access to a private spa area, only for guests. But I realize that if you pay more, you can also have access to it.

Blue Lagoon is a great experience for any traveler and you will find that having a soak in the geothermal spa of Iceland, nothing else really matters. You can truly relax and have absolutely nothing on your mind.

I do not think it is necessary to stay at the clinic though, because it is basic accommodation, clean beds and low lighting. As mentioned, best for patients to rest on recovery.

There is a little cafe serving some sandwiches and light beverages as well, but no room service.

Breakfast spread was very healthy and organic, once again, possibly for patients.

Skip staying at the clinic if you visit Blue Lagoon. Just start out early and leave before they close.

We stayed here for two nights after two nights at the northern light inn. The blue lagoon clinic is very nice, rooms are tastefully decorated and minimal in the Scandinavian design. The views over the lava fields are really cool and the best thing about the place is the free entry to the blue lagoon and access to the free private lagoon. Food at the lava restaurant was really great, I let them know it was my husbands birthday and they surprised us free desert which was lovely and a really nice surprise!!

Reception were really helpful, helping to book tours and providing earlier breakfast when we checked at early on our last day. Couple things to note, there is a smell of sulphur in the rooms, you get used to it, but it was quite strong! Also if you want to go on a northern light tour, these leave from Reykjavik but won't drop you back at the hotel, so you need to get a taxi back, probably about 2am in the morning, so in the end we don't do the tour and didn't get to see the lights. They also don't do the free wakeup service that they do at the northern light inn. Also you should note that the treatments are quite expensive so we didn't treat ourselves in the end.

Room Tip: Try to get a too facing the lava fields!

I see that the name of this has changed to clinic - because you should not be fooled into thinking this is hotel like myself at time of booking...it isn't.

My girlfriend booked this stay while in Iceland as a birthday treat, along with the restaurant. Based on the reviews we were really looking forward to this leg of the trip, and was expecting for the price a real slice of luxury, but was very disappointed.

Before going into the things that were disappointing, I think it's fair to say that a visit to the blue lagoon is very special and one of the major benefits of booking the hotel room is that you get private use of a section of the lagoon. We used both the private lagoon and the general admission lagoon which can get very busy, so that the private lagoon is very nice.

Now, the hotel is actually a clinic to treat psoriasis and skin conditions so this needs to be clearer! It explains a few things about my experience.

The private lagoon can only be used between certain times, from 9 - 12 and from 20:00 - 23:00. This was a bit disappointing as l can't see a reason why it cannot be used in the afternoon/early evening.

The private lagoon is used to treat people with psoriasis, I had no problem with this but would guess some would.

The decor of the rooms feels clinical, and not at all luxurious, was certainly the worst room on our stay. Disappointing. We were lucky to have a lagoon facing room, but some do seem to face a big factory plant.

The breakfast was the worst we had this trip and is situated in something that resembles a hospital waiting room/cafe.

You cannot book any treatments in the clinic (only psoriasis treatments), you have to go to the main lagoon for massages etc.

We booked the restaurant for my birthday meal and asked to put it back to 8:30 as we had arrived late that day which seemed to be fine with the reception. When arriving at the restaurant we were told that the kitchen was closed! They did squeeze us in for a main when l complained. Although the food was good, the restaurant does resemble a conference centre and they actually started stacking and clearing tables and chairs around us while we ate.

Overall I would advise those looking for a luxury experience to think again. This place isn't it and is very misleading on their website.

My tip would be to save yourself some money and use the normal lagoon and stay at some of the great hotels in the area. Or even visit other less well known lagoons if you want something more private.

in the early stage of my iceland planning, i stumbled across a little place called the blue lagoon. obviously i put this as a must-see since it was so highly recommended. but it was later on that i realized that blue lagoon had a clinic where you can stay overnight. as i looked at our 6am flight OUT of iceland, i knew that the clinic just made sense. staying here and taking a 15-min taxi OR staying in reykjavik and taking like a 45-min taxi? so we booked a 1-night stay at the tail end of our trip. and i was so glad we did.

we had taken a greyline shuttle from the city and we arrived at the clinic just in time for check-in. we quickly put our things away and headed over to blue lagoon (you get a complimentary day pass). the clinic is only a short 10-min walk from the lagoon. but on our day it was completely windy and freezing so the walk seemed a million times longer. =/ after a few hrs at the lagoon we arrived back at the clinic in time to go to their smaller lagoon area in the clinic. i skipped this part but my husband went in and thought it was much nice since it wasn't as crowded.

location - highly recommended if you have a early flight to catch out of KEF. only a 15-min taxi ride from the airport which the front desk will arrange for you.

food - because we had an early flight out, when we were arranging out taxi for the morning, they offered to set aside a smaller breakfast for us since we would miss their scheduled breakfast. i thought this was generous esp since we told them we would only have about 15 min to eat at 4:15am. we also loved that they had an espresso machine and water available.

customer service - easy check in. helped w/arranging our taxi service. did our wake up call. offered to set aside an early breakfast for 2 at 4:15am.

concerns - i don't have many and they're fairly minor. one would be that if you are planning to eat dinner there they need advance notice. i saw a sign stating you would need to put your request in by noon that day. but check-in is at 2 or 3pm? and the only other food we saw was at blue lagoon? it sounded fairly limited if you were to just check-in that day and miss the cut off? i'm not sure if perhaps it was a flexible deadline. my husband and i saw this ahead of time and grabbed food to bring back from the lagoon. the other was that since i'm a light sleeper i had trouble sleeping as i kept hearing the tv and voices from the next room over. this is doesn't pertain to everyone but i do know that out of our 6 accommodations throughout our honeymoon, this was the only one where i had this concern.

otherwise, i would def stay here again. i'd recommend it esp with early flights out of KEF. i love that it's a smaller accommodation and felt completely tranquil. and within walking distance of the larger blue lagoon.

Is a very well designed hotel near to the beautiful blue lagoon, an espectacular place. Rooms are great. A minimalist design and with great views. It's have a small pool for guest which is really great. Special if you want to have a early bath in the morning. The hotel have not restaurant. But you can have dinner if you wish. Breakfast is regular. Good located a walking distance to the blue Lagoon and connected with it by a nice path, easy to walk and in the reception they have torches for free use.

A trip to Iceland wouldn't be complete without a visit to the renowned Blue Lagoon! Most visitors make this a quick pit stop in their itinerary before making their way to other attractions in Iceland, but if you are looking for complete seclusion and relaxation, I highly recommend you make a night of it and spend an evening at the Blue Lagoon Clinic. The hotel, which also serves as a clinic for people with skin disorders, is a 15-room oasis situated 10 minutes (walking) across the lava fields from the main Blue Lagoon attraction. The added benefit of being a guest at the clinic is that you will also receive access to a private lagoon several hours each morning and evening. While the price of the accomodations may at first seem steep, don't forget to factor in that breakfast is included along with your entry fee to the Blue Lagoon, which is 33 euro per person (the hotel stay also provides a voucher for a towel and robe, which is 15 euro in total). So for two people planning to visit the lagoon only, it would typically cost 48 euro per person. A great value! The hotel's close proximity to the airport is also advantageous if you choose to make this the last stop on your holiday, because (depending on your flight time) you can take another dip in the private or main Lagoon in the morning before your departure! We unfortunately weren't lucky in seeing the Northern Lights on our trip due to weather, but another bonus of this hotel's location is that it is nestled in a lava field away from the city lights, and could be a good location to view them on a clear sky night.

Room Tip: The rooms are simple and clean, with beautiful floor to ceiling windows.

Returned again after only 10 months. I love this place, it is so tranquil and relaxing.
This is not a hotel as such - it is a cliinc for treating patients with skin disorders but takes reservations from ordinary guests too. The place is very quiet and perfect for unwinding after a day at the spa. Guests are also allowed to use the spa pools for 2 hours every mornign and 2 hours every evening and my mother actually preferred this pool to the one at the blue lagoon!.

At first glance it looks expensive but when you factor i nthe cost of the entry to the blue lagoon together with gown and towel hire for every day of your stay you soon realise that it isnt so expensive after all - esp as breakfast is also included.

For me,the only drawback is that there is no wake up call if the northern lights show which other hotels have!!
