Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

We went to the blue lagoon after a two-day trip of waterfall scouting and glacier walking in the freezing cold. The contrast between these two activities could not be more extreme. I can definitely recommend using the blue lagoon as a quick way of recharging before heading into the wild again.

After an overnight flight from Boston and the drive from the KEF airport, it was very welcome to sprint from the locker rooms in the cold, winter air to the warm embrace of the Blue Lagoon. My entire family enjoyed the warmth of the water and the squishiness of the sand/mud under our feet. We watched others applying the mud all over them and joined in. It was pretty neat. After over an hour, we found our ways back to the locker rooms. We were all pretty hungry and stopped by the Lava restaurant. The food was European, but it was our 1st experience with the Icelandic love of Allspice! We found that they really like this spice - which is just OK to me.

Visited the Blue Lagoon this morning. The coach got us there before it actually opened at 10, so we all stood round looking like lessons. Luckily the price was included in my for as €33 is a bit steep for basic entry. The changing rooms are spotless. Helpful staff about to give you advice. We were actually the first in the water. Lovely and hot water when you're out in the freezing cold and light snow on your face. It was still dark when we got in and the steam masked most of the view. There were a couple of places around the pool where you could scoop some silica for adopting to your skin. The smell of the water is expected and you'll soon get use to it. As you swim round you'll go in and out of hot spots.
Make sure you use the conditioner before you go in the pool, when you're having your naked shower that they request you to do. Use the conditioner after you have got out also as the water does knacker your hair.
It is worth a visit if you ignore the cost.

My husband and I had an amazing time at the Blue Lagoon. We were very pleased with the service and loved the atmosphere. If we hadn't already had plans for the rest of our trip, we would have returned.

After an overnight flight from Boston (on my way to London) on Icelandair....bathing in the amazingly calming waters of this spa was so soothing and really memorable.

There is a convenient coach service from Keflavik International Airport to the spa and back. I slept like a baby on the 3 hour flight down to London after having spent the day here.
