“Fell way short of expectations”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

I had heard so much about the Blue Lagoon that I felt I HAD to go there during a short trip to Iceland. I was very disappointed by the experience.

At £100+ per couple I had expected something very special, unfortunately I experienced a badly run tourist trap. We had had a long day and wanted to eat before relaxing in the water but at the crowded entrance we were told that we had to go through the changing rooms first and dinning facilities were available "inside". Wrong. At the end of the day we found a lot of people had in fact visited the restaurant first.

Prospective visitors should be aware it cost £20 to hire a towel and bathrobe (to be fair, a "free" drink is also thrown in). What a rip off.

You should also be aware the water is not blue. The high mineral content means that water is milky white and it is impossible to see your hand a few inches below the water surface.

Do yourself (and your wallet) a favour and visit one of the many hot spring spas within Reykjavik. I am certain you will get a lot more out of the experience.

“Wonderful way to end our vacation in Iceland”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We are a family of four, two adults and two teenagers, who greatly enjoyed our time at the Blue lagoon. We went via Greyline bus (who kept our luggage while at the Blue Lagoon) from Reykjavik, then dropped us at the airport, about 1 1/2 hours before our flight home. We got the basic entry fee which meant our son, who is 13 went for free and daughter for 1/2 price so it wasn't too expensive. We'd been the Blue Lagoon before about 15 years ago and were very impressed with the improvements since then.
The weather was gorgeous sunny and mild. It was crowded in the beginning but by early afternoon there were less people there. We left the Blue Lagoon relaxed and very happy.

“Very relaxing”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We visited the blue lagoon on our way back to the airport after having stayed in Hotel Ranga. We stayed in the hotel at the Blue lagoon which was lovely and made it very convenient to stay in the lagoon for as long as possible.
Tip - if you stay in the hotel you get free entry into the lagoon which makes the room price very reasonable.

“I did not like it”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

I think it was too expensive, a bit crowded...mainly Europeans and Americans, very few Icelanders. Its quite a drive from Reykjavik and we went on a Sunday afternoon, our last day in Iceland. Judging by most people comments it's a great experience, it just was not for me.

“Steamy and Crowded”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

It is close to Keflavik Airport so an easy stop on the drive to Reykjavik. The water really is blue! It is a result of the minerals from the volcanic action. There are a lot of people, so best to come early. There is a nice restaurant, changing rooms and an observation deck. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
