“Worth it! It's a giant hot tub, how can it be bad?”
Reviewed March 31, 2012

I've heard people say it's overrated. So? I wish every overrated tourist trap involved a huge, thermal pool with a swim up bar that served drinks with blue curacao.

Post-beverage, we slathered mud on our faces, hung out in the sauna, explored the different temperatures of the giant lagoon, smiled, and relaxed.

You come all the way to Iceland, so why not indulge in a little tourist attraction, especially since it's really just a giant hot tub? Awesome!

“The Blue Lagoon is superb.”

This is what you had in mind with the hot tub, only it covers acres! Gorgeous place in a stark but beautiful setting. The best place to relax I have ever seen! We visited in 1998, iirc. I'd go there tomorrow, if I could.

The geothermal heated waters of the Blue Lagoon provide a restful environment of contrasting outdoor views of bathing people amongst winter clothed patrons.

“An incredible experience”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

We had booked Blue Lagoon’s exclusive lounge before arrival. Driving to the Blue Lagoon from Reykjavik takes about 30-40 minutes (with a rental car), depending on the weather, but the drive is absolutely wonderful through winding roads, blue sky (and pouring rain 10 minutes later) black lava rocks, green moss and the amazing blue waters of the lagoon.

Upon arrival a member of the staff walked us to a private room with a shower where towels, bath robs, blue lagoon products (moisturizer and body lotion), and slippers were available to us. The private room opens and closes/locks with an individual arm band so you can leave your belongings safely in the room. He then walked us to an area with comfortable armchairs, a fireplace, coffee, tea and light refreshments for relaxing. It is from this same area that you can enter the lagoon by opening a door with a button from the inside.
Important note: Condition your hair before you go into the lagoon and then make sure you recondition them, especially if you color your hair.

The lagoon is absolutely amazing. The contrast between the blue water and the black rocks around it, is incredible. The water is warm and in spots, very warm. There are buckets of silica mud around the lagoon where you can put on your face, preferably before you wet it. While in the lagoon it started to snow/hail and it was really beautiful.

We spent an hour in the water, then went inside for a hot tea and then went out to the lagoon again.

A total of three hours! A truly incredible experience, not cheap (the exclusive lounge for two people was 200 euros!) but really worth it.

“Sooooo relaxing”
Reviewed March 28, 2012 via mobile

Really enjoyed our visit to the Blue Lagoon. We paid on arrival as we wanted to have the 'experience' package which included towel, bathrobe, a drink at lagoon bar and a facial scrub. The price wasnt too much more than the basic entry fee. We easily spent 3 hours in the lagoon, arriving about 11am. It wasn't too busy initially, around lunchtime a large group of teenagers arrived....school trip maybe? Mostly well behaved though! The silica mud mask is really good and is freely available around the side of the lagoon. The volcano scrub (included in the experience package) was quite harsh...not for sensitive skin! The algae mask was much more gentle! The waterfall section was great...standing under it was like a really good (Deep tissue) massage. Overall a great experience.
