Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

We went to the Blue Lagoon quite late in the day, at about 17.30, so it was dark...and magical! We swam in the warm water with steam rising, the hot spring was very active and the atmosphere was surreal. Most memorable.

What a top place. Hot blue water surrounded by moon like rocks covered in snow with a biting wind blowing across when we visited. This was truly memorable experience and we spent 6 hours there and only left as we had plans in Reykajvik later in the day. The contrast between very hot water and freezing cold ouside weather made our visit really special. We hired towels and dressing gowns at reception and gald we did as this helped keep warm once out of the water and to relax in the lounge area where I managed to fall asleep so relaxed I became. Only down side was someone 'nicked' my robe but staff gave me another one with no problem. Around the lagoon are steam rooms, and a sauna which were really relaxing (and Hot) and in the middle was a bar serving wine and beer, Of course this had to be done and drinking ice cold beer in a hot blue laggon was amazing. The waterfall was also a suprise as you are showered with hot water. All food and drink are charged to your issued wrsit band which you hand in and pay when you leave. We also used Reykajvik excursions to take us there and with pick up from our hotel front door and drop off at the Lagoon it could'nt have been easier. If you don visit the Blue Lagoon during your visit to Iceland then i think you will be missing out on something special

A trip to Iceland without Blue Lagoon is unthinkable.
Great Architecture very thoughfully done.
Dont miss out the Waterfall , Cave , Sauna & Steam . We did not book the Massage in advance and regretted that but made up by selecting the Exclusive Lounge facility . For a couple that is the best possible combination .Our host Brendon took us around the Lagoon and explained each and every activity . Was very helpful . And off-course the Water was just too good . We took bath outside as well with the snow falling . Couldnt have been better ending to the great Iceland Tour .

It is so strange and so nice to spend the day in the lovely warm milky blue water of this resort when the air is so cold and there is snow on the ground. Luckily there is a route from the building to the lagoon without having to leave the water. We paid for a package that included a face mask, a drink, a towel and a robe. This was available as an upgrade to the entry and bus ticket we had purchased online and was worth the little extra cost. The attraction is 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik and we were taken there by Reykjavik Excursions (when purchased together through their website the travel only cost £2 on top of the admission price).

As well as the huge lagoon there are also steam rooms and saunas, treatment areas, a cafe and free silica mud among other facilities. We spent 4 hours here and saw the sun go down. It is such a unique, relaxing and lovely experience that I would definitely recommend a trip here if you are visiting Reykjavik even in the dark and in the depth of winter.
