Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

Loved the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon was not too busy when we were there for 3 days - we stayed at the blue lagoon clinic and walked over each morning - staying until closing time - residents are allowed tp stay after other guests have left or alternatively can go back to the clinic and use the private lagoon there!

They have a funny syatem of moving around the place so you have ot ask to be let out of the main lagoon area and into the cafe to eat.

Had a 2 hour in water treatment which was amazing - i thought i would feel really cold during the treatment as the air temperature can be quite low but they have an amazing fleece blanket they put over you and which they keep warming up with hot water so you dont notice that the air around you is freezing!

All the staff we encountered were lovely - and couldnt do enough to accomodate us. someone walked off with my towel so they just got me a new one - no questions about asking whether i had paid for it or not (mine was included in my free entrance as a resident of the clinic)

the Lava restaurnat is great - the food is amazing - might seem overpriced but this is iceland so comparativley speaking it is reasonable.

It's magical, mysterious and fun! So worth the cost, travel distance, and time commitment. It's a great way to unwind. The minerals and water temperature are perfect. It's clean and well staffed. A few tips - bring your own suit and towel. Don't bring valuables - the minerals can turn jewelry colors - there are lockers but better to not bring expensive items. There is a fun swim up bar; drinks are expensive but you wear a wrist band so all charges go on it and you pay on the way out.

The Blue lagoon is located near to the airport of Reykjavik. A place to relax in the hot water witch was use for energy. The water is blue and located between the lava rocks. A must to do if your already in Iceland. Your trip would be not complete. The pictures i have made will talk for themself

It's really expensive to swim here because the payment is made in Euros. Ther are lots of people. But the water is warm and it must be nice to swim here in wintertime. But it is cheaper to swim outdoors in Reykjavik. And more easy to reach.

Are you sticking around for a few weeks or just a few hours, the Blue Lagoon offers a surreal spa attraction not equaled anywhere. The pastel blue waters are heated by thermal heat injection from the near by thermal generator station. The staff are friendly layed back and ready to help. The change rooms are spacious and clean and there is a relaxing restaraunt attached to the pool.
