My husband and I had only 3 days in Iceland. We were booked to do an Oasis tour and Snaefellsnes on the first two days. We really couldn't decide whether to do the Golden Circle or South Shore tour on our last day so we were delighted when we found this combination tour. It makes for a long day, but it is WELL worth it. The tour begins with visits to the South Shore "attractions"/locations. There were regular breaks for snacks/restrooms. We loved the wonderful scenery along the way and all of the stops were great (so many outstanding waterfalls and each is terrific for a different reason). We were given ample time to explore each site. Our guide would provide the background information about each site and tips for getting the most out of our visits (including walking into a cave to find the pool at a the base of a beautiful waterfall that is visible at the top from the outside, but not the bottom- totally awesome!! We loved walking behind the waterfall at one stop and up to the top of a very tall waterfall on another. The visit to the glacier was awesome and we had lots of time to explore. We never felt rushed. We also visited the Black Sand beach and stopped to look at some historical homes of Iceland. After this we had lunch at a really cool converted barn- it was great. Following lunch, we headed up to the Golden Circle portion of the tour. We had ample time at both Gullfoss and the Geysir. We then headed to Pingvellir and had a great time walking around after the guide provided a great summary of the history of the area. We continued to be amazed how every single location we visited was as beautiful or more beautiful than the location before. As this was our last day in Iceland, we had asked if we could take our luggage with us during the tour. This was no problem. At the end of the tour, we were dropped at the Blue Lagoon. The guide kept our luggage for us and picked us up 2.5 hours later to deliver us to the airport (extra charge, but nice and easy). Our day with Volcano Tours was action packed. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and really felt so lucky to see all of the wonderful attractions. The tour lasted approximately 12 hours- so it was a marathon, but well-worth it. Clint, our guide, was helpful and informative. We would definitely recommend this tour if you are unable to do two separate tours because of time.
