“Perfect villa, location & hosts”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 for a stay in February 2013

We've just returned from a fantastic trip to Iceland, staying in Maggnus & Inga's Viking villa. What a place. Maggnus collected us from the airport, stopped at a supermarket & showed us round Fludir. He's a wealth of Icelandic information! The villa is great for 6 people & is perfectly located in the Golden Circle - close to Reykjavik, spectacular waterfalls (Gullfoss), explosive geysirs (Stokkur) & dramatic countryside. If you're on for a longer drive, go to Jökulsárlón - the glacial lagoon & ice boulders on the black volcanic beach are worth the journey. We had a really memorable holiday & would highly recommend staying at the Viking villa.

“A beautiful villa in a stunning country”

The villa was superbly appointed in a frankly stunning location offering all the amenities of home and some much needed solitude.
Only an hour away from Reykjavik with Gulfoss and the original Geysir and hot pools all within a twenty minute drive. Pingvallir national park is nearby and we even managed a trip down to Vik, passing through what can only be described as astonishing scenery.
In the middle of winter it's very cold outside, which just made it all the more difficult to leave the warmth of the gorgeous villla, and it was always a pleasure to come back after a long day sightseeing to rest, eat and recharge in luxury.
Maggnus and Inga were great hosts, even collecting us at the airport and driving us to the villa after our flight (we rented on of their cars directly), and when we met a flu-weary Maggnuss on our return home he went out of his way to show us around Reykjavik and Keflavik to take in a selection of sights we would never have even known about ourselves ; our two year old particularly loving the Troll house built into a harbour wall!
A spectacular country to visit, great people, and such a warm welcom from Maggnus and Inga (and Maggnus Jnr!) mean we will definitely return to see more.

“Couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Iceland.”
Reviewed January 7, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

This house is magnificent. It is warm, very well equipped and perfectly located as a jumping off point to see many of Iceland's attractions.
The owner and builder of the house, Magnus Viking - is very welcoming and informative. He and his wife take great pride in the property and that shines through in every detail.
Unfortunately it was too cold for the chickens to lay eggs during our 5-day stay, but normally guests can use the fresh eggs available in the nearby chicken coop.
We were lucky enough to see the northern lights 4 out of 5 nights as this house is well situated to view them with minimal light pollution.
The town of Fludir is very small but had everything we needed - including a geo thermal pool and a bottle shop that is cusiously only open between 5pm and 6pm each day.
(If you haven't been told this before - buy your beer and wine at dutyfree in Reykjavik airport when you arrive because alcohol is very expensive in the resty of Iceland and subject to strict licencing laws).
Iceland was absolutely stunning - but knowing we had a comfortable and cozy house to return to after a full day of geysirs, snowmobiles and black-sand-beach walking made it even better.
Thank you Viking Family. PS: We hope your son passed his driving test!

“Top Quality”
Reviewed November 8, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Fabulous apartment in the centre of the 'Golden Circle' We were able to take trips to Reykjavik (whale watching and shopping); to Gulfoss (Giant waterfall) also in the same day Geyser - great spectacle. Caving and Snorkelling (in the snow) in Pingvallir national park. On a day when the wind was so strong (Hurricane Sandy decided to join us from New York) and we had to stay in (relaxing) we didn't mind at all because the accommodation is first class. TV with Sky and wonderful views all around. We even got to see the Northern lights. Magnus the owner was an absolute gem and because it was so windy took us around to see some local sites which we would never have seen if we had not been with him. We saw what looked like a very modern Stonehenge but was actually a massive sheep pen for annual sheep mustering, maybe Stonehenge was really made to count and divide sheep! We also took a walk up a mountain (hill near Sellfoss) with natural hot springs where you could bath in the slightly dammed parts of the stream. It was plenty hot enough (in October) but a bit chilly changing after! The furthest we went was a Glacier near Vestern Island (Which we hear would have been great to visit) we were intending to do some ice climbing on the glacier but that due to hurricane Sandy was cancelled. We did see the ice and walk around a bit. A great experience.
Magnus picked us up from the airport as he said he would and drove us to the accommodation (best shower ever and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in) at the end of the week we met Magnus and Inga again to give them back their car (they had hired it to us as well) Magnus then drove us to the airport via one last museum so that we could see as much about Iceland whilst we were there.
Fantastic accommodation even better host and totally genuine people. In fact all the Icelander's we met were lovely and spoke excellent English. I could not even manage thank you in Icelandic!

FYI we used Arctic adventures for all of our activities. Their selection was great we also got a discount for booking lots in one go

“Lovely home, would move in if I could!”
Reviewed August 4, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed at this villa for 4 days. It is a wonderful home with ultra modern amenities, yet a cozy feel. It is within a comfortable driving distance to attractions such as Gulfoss falls, Geysir, glaciers, among other things. The location is quiet and scenic but not too remote as the village of Fludir with a small grocery store and public pool and hot tub is about 1.5 miles away. It was very nice to come back here at the end of each day. The view is amazing from 360 degrees! You can collect your own eggs every morning from the chickens and feed the geese nearby. Owners, Maggnus and Inga are genuinely nice and helpful people. It was a pleasure staying here, especially with 4 children!
