We chose this hotel for our 38th anniversary weekend. I booked a KING room for June 7-9 back on March 18. I called on Monday June 3 to make sure we were good to go. Assured we were and she would note we would be late arrival. So we pull in to Route 66 after a 5 hour drive to begin our anniversary celebration only to be told we had no room! After half an hour she says she got us a room. We walk into the room to find it occupied! Now I am ticked! We go tell her there are people in that room and she responded 'wonder who is in there!' Another 20 minutes and she gets us a room but not a King. I told her I booked King over 2 months ago. She said 'unless you want to sleep with those other people you will have to take the queen.' So we did and the next morning a very apologetic young man tried his hardest to make it right but mgr (on phone) wouldn't hear of it. She never did come talk to us about their screw up. Just said knock some off our bill. Having a restaurant, bar and comedy club in the hotel is a plus but the mgr is less than high on the PR chart. Wish I knew the gentleman's name who remembered booking for us and was so friendly and tried to help. He gets 5 stars! OH I also told the lady at check in I had my confirmation....she said well it isn't doing you much good tonight! Wish I knew who to contact above the hotel mgr.

This Hotel was the Original Holiday Inn so it is alittle dated we loved all the memorabilia form the 50's and 60's the room was small but comfortable l wish we had tried the Broasted Chicken but had eaten at two other resturants and they did not have it on Sunday which for me seems like the perfect day to have it the staff was nice and helpful it is in a good location close to everything especially resturants and historic area yes there are nicer hotel in town but not for the price of this one. Have fun

Stayed here as first stop after Chicago. Lived up to expectations with fantastic decor and memorabilia. Room was unusual, no window, but comfortable and well equipped. Friendly service in bar and enjoyed good meal. Breakfast was also good in main restaurant.

We stayed at the Route 66 Conference center on our recent Route 66 trip. The location was actually great for what we were doing. We did like the Route 66 motif but......We sat on one of the couches in the hall way that had Route 66 print on it and my wife mentioned that it was kind of sinking in. I lifted up one of the cushions too see if the springs were messed up and we saw a pile of mouse droppings. The door to our room had a malfunctioning latch plate that had to be positioned every time to get the door to stay shut. We are easy to please but cleanliness and easy maintenance go a long way with us. The staff were very friendly though. If we are ever in the area again, we will stay elsewhere.

This hotel is ideally situated in Springfield Illinois and perfect for a stop off on a 66 Tour.

The rooms are dated but clean and functional and staff are friendly and helpful.

Also perfectly located to visit the Lincoln house.

The receptionist at this motel was absolutely lovely. We felt that we had known her for ever. She was warm and friendly, making us feel very welcome. The lobby and corridors of the main building are Route 66 themed and very interesting. The bar is great and the bar lady friendly. The room was tired but clean and had all the conveniences that we needed from coffee making to a fridge, tv, ironing board, etc. the bed was a bit soft, though. All in all an iconic Route 66 motel, made all the more interesting by the arrival of 20 Germans on Harley Davison's, who were in for the night. A great place for a stop over.

Room Tip: The rooms are all the same

Very good value. The rooms are small but adequate. One possible issue, if there are some rowdy post meeting parties is that all the windows face the corridor! Curtains need to be closed at all times
Breakfast was good, quick and fair value
I would stay again
