My husband and I stayed at the Inn at 835 over Valentine's Day weekend. The hospitality of the staff was excellent and we had a great time. We stayed in the Wisteria Suite in the cottage, which is behind the main Inn. It was very roomy and comfortable, complete with a fireplace and huge jazuzzi tub. The amenities were modern, but the place had a quaint historic feel. The breakfast was delicious both mornings - blueberry pancakes the first morning, and spinach quiche with hollandaise sauce the second morning - along with other side items like rosemary potatoes and sausage. The only frustration was the TV and DVD player. We were looking forward to relaxing in bed and watching some movies that we brought along, but the DVD player didn't play BluRay, and the TV was very small and confusing to operate. They do have a hospitality room at the main Inn with movies to borrow, so we were able watch movies after all. The Inn is close to the historic sites - we visited Lincoln home, Lincoln Museum, and Dana-Thomas House designed by Andrew Lloyd Wright. I recommend all three of these sites, as well as the Inn at 835!

I am a native Springfieldian, but we stay here when we visit Springfield, now, because it is such a relaxing space. Both times we have reserved the Poppy Suite (?) with the double wide. By double wide, I don't mean trailer; I mean jacuzzi. And it very nice. And both times we have arrived after normal check in hours, and both times they have made reasonable accommodations for our late arrivals, which we most certainly appreciated. Take the time to tour the public areas of the Inn; it offers a glimpse into the history of Springfield that you may not necessarily see at the world class Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, then I suggest taking a walk over to the Dana Thomas House by Frank Lloyd Wright.

I start all my bed and breakfast reviews the same way: B&Bs are just as individual as the people who visit them. All are beautiful in their own way and also have their own peculiarities. These differences are what make those of us who enjoy B&Bs keep going to on to the next new adventure.

The Inn at 835 is hands-down our favorite B&B that we have visited thus far. It is lovely, inside and out. I grew up in a Queen Anne home and it reminds me of it from the moment we enter the doors. An entry staircase opens to the front desk. We spent many of our evenings in the living room, enjoying the fire and the Christmas tree. It was like going back in time being among antiques. There re even ghosts although we didn't see any of them.

We have stayed in two rooms while there: The Hyacinth Room and the Lily Room. Both beds were extraordinarily comfortable. We prefer the Lily Room which had a prettier bed and a shared balcony with the Rose Suite. however, we would stay in the Hyacinth Room again since it had a very large bathroom (the Lily Room has a very large Jacuzzi tub but is in a decidedly smaller bathroom).

There is an honor snack bar with games and videos to borrow. The breakfast was overall very good but I definitely preferred the cooled-to-order eggs over the casserole-type choices. Juice and coffee were perfect.

We will be staying in Springfield two to three times each year and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. I look forward to staying in the Rose Suite or the Orchid Suite, both of which look lovely.

Room Tip: So far every room we have seen has been beautiful but the Rose Suite definitely looks worth the splu...

First visit to Springfield by my wife and I, stayed here for one night right after Christmas. Stayed in the Rose Suite, which was wonderful. Great large bedroom/sitting room with an operating gas fireplace, large windows which looked out on the neighborhood. Very large bathroom with double whirlpool and very large walk in shower with two separate shower heads. Very low water pressure from the shower but otherwise a great experience. Large balcony outside our room, too cold to enjoy but would be nice in summer. Breakfast was fine but only average.

My wife and I have stayed at the Inn at 835 several times over the years. It's a beautiful old building that has been restored well. The location is good as far as relative proximity to a lot of good Springfield sites, such as the Lincoln Home NHS, the state capitol, the Dana-Thomas House, and more. The rooms vary quite a bit, and though all are fine, the larger rooms are more interesting and fun places to stay, so if your budget can handle it, it's worth the additional dollars to stay in a room like the Rose, Hydrangea, Gladiolus, or Orchid Suites. It's not perfect, but the fact that we've returned multiple times says something about the appeal of the place. It's well worth a try if you appreciate the opportunity to experience historically significant buildings of this type.

Great little inn near downtown Springfield. It is within walking distance of all the major Lincoln attractions. We stayed in one of the small cottages out the back with the two person hot tub. Breakfast was included and a basket of homemade cookies at turn down.

Stayed here to see the Lincoln Museum and his home. Good service, relatively friendly staff. The staff were much nicer than the manager.

Breakfast great, and the hotel a beautiful example of Arts and Crafts design. We also saw the Frank Lloyd Wright design which was close by. Interesting history.
