“Dead Walk Tour... waste of time”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

For the heck of it we took the Dead Walk tour with Dana Quinn... if you want a good tour, go to Gettysburg... if you want a tour you can make into a joke, here you have it. Dana was a HORRIBLE story teller! He turned the tour into a sales plug for his upcoming documentary. The Hickox 'haunted' House was a joke. While I'm sure it will look amazing once the restoration is complete, having people walk around a dark renovation site without signing waivers is a recipe for disaster!

The best part of the tour was making fun of Dana along with my boyfriend and another family we met.

The issues mentioned here have been addressed with the tour guide. I would have appreciated a more constructive negative review though. Thank you.

“Not what we expected...it was better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

It was a great historical tour that mentioned a few possible hauntings. Mr. Garret was a fantastic guide and has a wealth of knowledge about the area. He has an outstanding presentation and I could listen to his story for hours. Our 90 minute tour went over about 30 minutes...but the time flew by! We stopped by the Presbyterian Church, the Lincoln Home, the Depot...saw the street on which Lincoln lived similar to what it looked like when he occupied the area. If you take any tour guided by Mr. Garrett you'll be well satisfied.

“I thought my teens would roll their eyes but they loved the tour!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

We got into Springfield at 5pm just as everything historic seems to close. We however found a ghost tour that evening so we jumped on it. Our guide really loves history and it shows. The tour is not hokey spooky its factual. Which is good. I didn't want someone lying to my kids for the sake of trying to get a good scare out of them. Springfield is beautiful at night. Especially by Lincoln's home. Our guide took as out for 90 minutes. We got to sit for bit but mostly slow paced walking and standing.

“A walk through history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

We took the ghost walk on our last night in Springfield. The guide provided some great insight into Lincoln and his family. We heard some very interesting tales of Lincoln and of course ghost sightings that have occurred. The tour lasted 90 minutes and we visited the Law Office, Presbyterian Church, Lincoln Home and the depot.

“Solid tour; interesting stories; talented guide”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

Not sure if these are inspired by London Walks, but if so, that’s a good model on which to base one’s walking-tour business. Local guide and actor Garret Moffett leads groups on walking tours through Springfield, Ill., pointing out key historic sites on the way. Naturally, most of these have to do with Abraham Lincoln.

Obviously Springfield, Ill., is no London, so one has to put it in perspective, but the local lore, ghost stories and folky yarns Moffett shares are certainly entertaining and informative. Best moment happened outside “Lincoln Depot”, the railway station where Lincoln left Springfield to assume the Presidency in Washington, D.C. Moffett recited Lincoln’s farewell speech and put on an impressive performance; the tour group even applauded.

Note that Springfield gets hot in summer; I went in July and it was 100F/38C at dusk the night I did this walk.

Thank you kindly for the nice words. Very astute I did get my business name from London Walks! I used to be a guide there.
