This place is beautiful and kept up. The volunteers that conduct the tours are very well versed in both Dana-Thomas history and Frank Lloyd Wright.

The house and the preservation are incredible. This was the second time I have toured this house. The last time was over 20 years ago. It is just as awesome now as it was then. Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture is mind boggling. If you have time this is a fascinating tour.

The tours are every 20 min or so...and the people that work at the house are very enthusiastic and nice. The tour and the house itself are great! You see almost every part of the house except a few of the suites. Its an amazing piece of architecture especially considering the era it was built. The story behind the house and the original owner is just as interesting...in fact I am reading her biography now. Price is by donation....whatever you pay it is worth the price!

ps. you cannot take indoor pictures or touch anything...keep that in mind if you have small children....mine are 6 and 11...but younger than 4 would make me nervous.

The Dana-Thomas House is a hidden pleasure not too far from the other government and historical attractions in Springfield, Illinois. For enthusiasts of Wright it is an important item on your must-see of the homes he designed. For history buffs it is a glimpse into bygone days of social change. Our guide was very knowledgeable and chatty, made for a pleasant hour and a half tour. This is definitely NOT a tour for anyone with mobility issues or younger children. It is an hour plus of walking, standing, going up and down stairs and NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING!!!
