I've been to lots of museums, this is by far the best. Actors portraying various characters from Lincoln's time stroll through the museum interacting with the visitors. Each area is so well done, we didn't want to leave. There was the log cabin of course, the cabinet room and the White House kitchen, and the Ford Theatre. Each exhibit is perfect to every detail. Can't praise it enough. Would definitely return.

We had a great time the the museum. The exhibits and information were well presented, and we came away knowing a great deal more about the American civil war.

Bright, open, friendly, and with a decent gift shop.

Definitely an over-the-top homage to President Lincoln, this museum lavishly hits the highlights of his life, from an overdecorated reproduction of his childhood log cabin, to a ghoulish recreation of his son's deathbed scene, and Lincoln's own coffin laying in state. Its sure to delight Lincoln fans, but not photographers, since photography is not permitted anywhere but in the marble entry area.

The entry doors are somewhat small, so people with strollers and wheelchairs will have problems getting in and out; and on-street signage is absent, along with a proper GPS useable address on their website. Just punch in: 212 South 6th Street, Springfield IL 62701, and look for the "Subway" sign out front.

This is a museum that everyone needs to see! It's way more than artifacts and displays of belongings. You walk through scenes in the life of Abraham Lincoln and it is so real feeling. The figures, the lighting, the sounds- it all makes you like you are there. Example: it is a log cabin and young Lincoln is reading by the fire. You can hear the crackling of the fire and snoring coming from the parents bed. Very well done.

Several other features:
-There are also two theaters showing to features about Lincoln's life. Both are just great and well done. One has loud noises and a strobe light so viewers should be aware of this.

-There is a great place for kids to explore life during this era.

-The gift shop is great and there is something for everyone.

I have visited this museum many times and it never gets old. Looking forward to my next visit!

WOW-Springfield has done Lincoln the great justice he deserves. The Museum is spectacular. Takes several hours to see everything - wrists bracelets are given so when we got tired, we walked back to hotel, rested, then walked back & saw the rest. It truly is something to see.
