When you enter the museum, you are quickly greeted by a museum volunteer who is friendly and ready to offer information about the 2 movies, and where to begin your visit. Plan on spending 2 hours or more reading and looking at various memorabilia. The political cartoons are very interesting. Don't miss the performances in the 2 theaters; they are well done and very informative. There is a Subway restaurant attached to the museum, so you can stop off to eat, drink, or rest. The armband admittance enables one to leave the museum and return later in the day. You can self-check your coat for free or place it and other things in a locker with a key for a quarter.

The museum exhibits are a multi-sensory experience and perfect for children as well as adults. The self tour is perfectly staged to understand the sequential events of Lincoln's presidency. There is much more to learn on a return visit.

This museum has something for everyone. It is so incredibly well done with amazing attention to detail everywhere you turn. From the log cabin where Lincoln lived as a child through the assassination and the accompanying memorabilia (which is actually rather bone chilling to see some of those famous items in person.) The movies are incredible to watch...especially the one with the "hologram". Another cool aspect was the "Hall of Whispers" where the disapproving whispers of crowds that Lincoln walked through are re created. Just a top notch museum all the way around. Worth the price of admission!

The Museam is a must see while in Springfield. The 2 film presentations were very impressive. We espcailly enjoyed the "ghosts" presentation. Very well done. Each film is about 15 minutes long so do not miss them. The film "Through Lincoln's eyes" maybe a bit scary for small children since there are loud explosions and movements of the seats. The museum offers a look at Lincoln's early life in Indiana, his life in Illiniois before he was president and then his life and death as the president. There are actual historical pieces that are interesting to look at and even one of the 5 original copies of the Emmancipation Proclamation (so the volunteer told us). Very well done. I especially enjoyed the fact that the museum tries to explain the turmoil of the time and how many people of the day hated the events of the times and how some people were claiming that Lincoln was going too far and some were feeling he wasn't going far enough. How many states pulled out of the union and why. The entire museum took about 2-2 1/2 hours to go through everything at a leisurly pace. This is nice since you feel like you learned things without it being an all day event. Fee was $12 each (for adults). There is a parking lot 1 block away. If you want something to eat there is a Subway restaurant in the building that you can access from the museum.
