The A. Lincoln Museum particularly is a multi-media experience which is more for the casual admirer of Lincoln, or American History, or American Presidents than for a true Lincoln Aficionado. There are chronological, wax-museum type tableaux of each stage of his life, presenting his journey from cabin denizen to White House President and Great Emancipator. Also offered are actual artifacts from each member of his family: a chocolate-stained letter from one son; jewelry and fashion from Mary, and so on. Two theaters provide films with special emphasis on other parts of Lincoln's place in history, both offering special effects which are impressive and entertaining but do not take away the educational value (although one clearly leans heavily upon sensational, rather spurious source material, casually getting by with a comment from the narrator that "Historians don't agree." That's what you get with corporate sponsorship. Ah,well.). On my visit an exhibit concentrating upon the weapons and their wounds/casualties was featured. It highlighted the importance of hospitals, nurses, and the dearth of knowledge about infection, sepsis, and sanitary conditions. All in all, it is a fascinating place which will prove interesting for everyone.

The exhibits are well done to show all parts of Abraham Lincolns life. there are 2 good shows and and a kids room. Make sure you don't miss anything as there is lots to see. The admission is well worth the experience.

It was as good as I had hoped. You don't have the be a history buff or even a Lincoln scholar to take something away from a visit.
We bought tickets on line-that wasn't necessary-- and a little confusing the employees sent us to the wrong desk to get our arm bands in exchange for our paid admissions.
The cabin is ok -- I have been to Lincoln Log Cabin near Charleston, IL -- so I wasn't surprised or overly impressed.
I did enjoy the White House exhibit-- try to think about how most of our relatives were living in 1860- contrast to the White House.
The movie is worth seeing- as expected it had Disney type special effects-- at least one will surprise you -- and even though you know the President was shot, you will probably be caught off guard for that one too.
I think the thing I liked best was the Civil War in 4 minutes - excellent-- if our History teachers had had those kinds of tools think how much more we would have enjoyed and retained!
It took us less than 2 hours for the tour- we did not see the '2nd' movie.

It is one of the best attractions in Springfield! You get to walk through a replica of the White House with all sorts of facts about Lincoln. This is along with many theaters that have amazing 3D presentations about different periods in history when Lincoln was president of the U.S. There are many galleries with priceless items (security is tight) that Lincoln had worked with and created. Don`t hesitate to go, you`ll love it!
