“A National Treasure”

The burial place of Abraham Lincoln. Richly loaded with history, the top of the tomb is decorated with bronze statues of various famous Civil War Generals. Abe is buried here, and so is his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, and one of their children (Todd, I think it is). The interior of the tomb is befitting any Egyptian Pharoah. There is a gorgeous marble hallway, and in the back, there is the huge marble headstone of President Lincoln. The tour guides will tell you everything you're looking at, and the history. If you are ever in Springfield, this is a MUST-SEE place. Abe's tomb is surrounded with acres and acres of other Springfield denizons, and it's interesting to walk the grounds and see who all is buried here. There are some surprises waiting for you here.

“100 acres of Illinois natural garden of Eden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2012

Beautiful place for walking, strolling, meditating. A garden that has been planted to look like the landscapes in Illinois when Lincoln was here. Plants native to IL, IN, & KY (places Lincoln lived) Gorgeous in spring with wild flowers and flowering trees. Fall colors worth the trip also. (Picture to left is Lincoln's tomb and not the Garden).

“A great outdoor activity for residents and visitors.”

There is always something going on out at the Garden. Great place to hike and observe the wildlife and native plants. Maple syrup time is always fun. We love the fall festival that generally falls around Columbus Day weekend each year.
