“No to the Sat. night buffet”

Rosewood Restaurant

Description: This is the main restaurant in the Springfield Crown Plaza Hotel. I could not find a separate phone listing - other than the hotel's. Many locals dine here - especially for their Saturday night prime rib buffet.

It's Saturday night at 6:45 no wait and only 5 tables full, not a good sign. We went because we had a coupon, but had a sign was posted stating they no longer accept them. We opted to pay the full price of $32 per person. The salad bar options were ok. The new owner's have scaled back on the selections. One veggie on buffet (corn) besides the salad. One soup, that was ok. They had chicken in a sauce, pork in a corn and black bean salsa. Tons of pasta's & potatoes. I had a bite of my husban'ds prime rib and it was nothing special. Coffee is no longer out for self service and the waiter must have been multi-tasking so I drank my water with my dessert. The cakes were precut on a table. The one we picked had been out for a while because the cake exposed to the air was hard and crunchy. During dinner we decided we won't come back.

Was staying at the Crowne Plaza for a conference so went to Rosewood for breakfast. The full buffet was $12.95 you could do the continental for a few bucks less. It included any drinks you wanted too. Decent variety (eggs, pecan rolls, potatoes, cereals, bacon, sausage) but nothing too exciting except the pecan rolls, yummm!!!! They told us they had made to order omelettes but didnt see any evidence of that going on...nor did I ask any further about that option. Service was very good!! Attentive but not annoying!

We were here for convention. And 4 of us ate one evening meal here. Order was not complicated but had to remind server that had only gotten salad and not crab cakes that were ordered.
Took us over 1 hr. for simple meal and they were not that busy.

Little pricey for what you get. Don't plan on eating here again since are other choices in the area

We love their Friday night seafood buffet. There is usually a good selection, plus you can order steamed crab legs at no extra cost. There is also a dessert table and coffee. The atmosphere is also very nice.

Pretty predictable but a bit disappointing for the main restaurant of the city's largest hotel. Totally convention stuff.
