Owner description: The only house Abraham Lincoln ever owned is the centerpiece of this four-block historic neighborhood. Lincoln and his family lived in the two-story house from 1844 until 1861, when their address changed to the White House.

We waited to for the park ranger to give a guided tour, then walked around the area on our own. What I also enjoyed here, outside of all the buildings there is a number that you can actually get audio tours through your smartphone by texting!

Very good tour, great tour leader and nice to see the work done to recreate home of Lincoln and the whole neighborhood to the time period. Much of the furnishings were Lincolns and things like wall paper were recreated from photos and other information.

There is no cost to view the Lincoln's homestead. The parks officials go out of their way to put a personal touch regarding the Lindcoln's life In Springfield

At first we didnt think this would be much of a place to stop but after taking the tour of Lincoln's actual home for 17 years and the surrounding "neighborhood" it really helped bring the middle part of his life into focus. Well worth the time.

Loved this. The only national historic site in the state of Illinois. I visited here as a child and enjoyed it again as an adult.
