Owner description: The only house Abraham Lincoln ever owned is the centerpiece of this four-block historic neighborhood. Lincoln and his family lived in the two-story house from 1844 until 1861, when their address changed to the White House.

This is a free tour run by the National Park Service. Do take the time to stop by and take the tour. You'll learn a lot about Lincoln and his family prior to moving to the White House. There are also a few other exhibits that teach you about Springfield during the 1800s and what life was like back then. So glad this property and surrounding areas were eventually taken over by the National Park Service. Lincoln's home should not have a Piggly Wiggly across from it as it once did. It is amazing how many original Lincoln pieces are in the home along with some period pieces.

I could feel the history seeping out of the walls walking through Lincoln's house. There are many pieces of furniture that were owned by Lincoln and his family. Pretty amazing to walk through the only house Abraham Lincoln ever owned!

It is fun to combine history with fun. You go to the visitors center to get your free ticket to tour the home. It is fun to wlk through the house where Lincoln atually lived while in Springfield. The home is very well maintained, and has great staff.

We were amazed to be standing in Lincoln's home, viewing many pieces of his actual furniture, not reproductions. The guide was very interesting & had many stories to share. Definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Springfield.

Wonderful tour of Lincoln's home--guide was well informed and provided a wealth of information on the Lincoln family. The restored homes surrounding Lincoln's home helps create a feel for how things were when the Lincoln family resided in Springfield.
