“Patriotic way to spend the 4th of July”

Visiting Lincoln's Tomb is very interesting. There is such attention to deatail on all the statues and the interior of the tomb. The guides there are also very interesting. Make sure to ask how many times Mr Lincoln has been moved from his "final resting place"

“Calm and serene”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is the cemetery where the Lincoln Tomb is situated. It is a calm and serene place to visit. It is well maintained with many areas to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. It goes on for miles and miles and although a cemetery is not necessarily a tourist spot, this cemetery made you feel as though you wanted to sit under a shady tree and just gaze out into the distance and enjoy the view and surroundings and pay your respects.

“Very touching”

This spot really makes you stop and think! Here lies a GREAT MAN who ended the civil war and slavery! Lies here with his wife and 3 sons! The guides here were magnificent and so informative! My hat off to them! Don't miss the site. Enter on Monument Rd. and your right there!

“Another Must See Site”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Oak Ridge Cemetery is the final resting place of President Abraham Lincoln and his family. The cemetery is located a little north of downtown and while the cemetery gates remain open until 8 p.m. during the summer, the Lincoln Tomb closes promptly at 5 p.m. During the summer the Tomb remains open until 8 p.m. The Lincoln Tomb is easily the most visited site in the cemetery and has a small parking area located adjacent to the monument. Once visitors enter the Memorial they are greeted by a volunteer who give you a brief history of the memorial and tomb. In the entrance hall there is a model of the Lincoln statue that sits in the Lincoln Memorial. From the entrance hall visitors will make their way through a hallway containing models of other famous Lincoln works of art. At the end of the hallway visitors come to the actual Tomb of Abraham Lincoln. Above the tomb of Abraham Lincoln are the words, “Now he belongs to the Ages,” which was spoken by Secretary of War Edwin Staunton at the time of President Lincoln’s Death. Resting in the crypts along the south wall of the tomb are the remains of Mary Todd Lincoln, and their sons Eddie, Tad and William. I spent about 45-minutes at the Lincoln Tomb and didn’t feel that I rushed my visit. Oak Ridge Cemetery is a very large and historic cemetery and visitors should allow at least a couple of hours to visit in addition to the time you spend at the Lincoln Tomb.

“A must see if a in the area”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We were fortunate to visit the cemetery for the summer flag retreat. Each Tuesday evening in the summer(May-Aug) at 7:00pm the 114th Volunteer regiment performs a historic flag retreat. The flag is then given to a lucky member of the audience. After the ceremony the tomb is open for viewing. This is a must see if you have the opportunity.
