“Step back in history”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Our tour guide took us thru the building showing us where Stephen Douglas worked, where he might have manipulated his way into a judgeship! But the best part was when I was able to sit in the actual spot where Lincoln sat on the floor of the House ! Great experience.

“A time when politicians worked together”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Even when their viewpoints were divergent, the politicians worked together and maintained a civility and commitment to the American people. It was incredible to see how they worked in austere surroundings and worked for a common good, despite the sides of the fence in which they believed. Be sure to take advantage of the guided tour for the greatest insights.

“Very historical”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Easy to get too, within walking distance, lots of history, and you can actually go into some of these rooms where the Illinois Senate and House actually met, Worth going to.

“Very nice addition to your Springfield visit”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The guides are very knowledgeable and you get a good sense of the history of the building. Even if you just do a quick 15 minute visit, it's worth it. Decent public bathrooms in the building, too.

“Makes you feel like you are there.”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

The tours are interesting and the rooms set up just as if you were in the capital during Lincoln's time. It was even interesting even though there were three bus loads of school children there.
