Owner description: Painstakingly rebuilt after being disassembled in the 1960s, this Greek Revival masterpiece saw Lincoln serve as a lawyer and legislator. In 1858, Lincoln delivered his landmark "House Divided" speech in the Capitol's Representatives Hall.

I loved this walk through history and learned so much about President Lincoln's life with a great curator, It was up close and personal and photos were allowed.

Admission is free and the building is wonderfully restored. See the court where Abraham Lincoln argued cases. Enthusiastic guides anxious to share their stories. Good family venue and a nice addition to the Lincoln historical tour.

We just blundered in on a really great performance by a couple giving a lecture as General & Mrs. US Grant. I had read a lot about the period covered by the performers and they were spot on in their descriptions.

We were here during the "History Comes Alive" in the summer. The Troubadour's were giving a concert inside; we enjoyed the blending of their beautiful young voices. This is the building where the President's body laid in state for 24 hours before his burial; I heard that 75,000 people filed past his body during that time.

Since a tour had already begun, we were able to take our own tour, which was fine. There was information telling about each room in the old capitol.
