A visit to Springfield and Lincoln sites would not be complete without a visit to the Old State Capitol. Here Mr. Lincoln gave his famous "house divided" speech. The capitol has been maintained in the style from Mr. Lincoln's time.

If you can schedule your visit to coincide with one of the many period dress tours or Lemonade/cookie days, you will get more from the experience.

Either way, it is a great place to experience Mr. Lincoln's pre-president life.

“Old State Capitol”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

This was, by far, my favorite experience in Springfield. The building was well done, the furnishings were wonderful, the people working there were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It is a beautiful building with outstanding architecture. I wish I could have stayed there longer.

The building was open and we were welcomed to tour the building .
It was an intimate experience with the times of Abraham Lincoln.

“Interesting Place to Visit.”
Reviewed March 12, 2012

It is a little history of our states past & actually present. When Barrack Obama announced that he was going to run for President of the United States & then also when he announced that Joe Biben was going to be his running mate, he made the announcements from the Old State capital.
