My husband and I spent one night at this hotel in May 2012. We were part of a 20 person guided tour thru Gate1. The location is great with the mountains and water behind you and the golf course in front. 2 hot tubs on each end of the building with great views. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was delicious. The rooms and entire hotel is very clean. They have a computer you can use for internet access but they charge for the wi-fi. I recommend this hotel!

Motel like hotel, two miles north of Borgarnes, next to golf course. Plenty of space on the site, nice views of mountains and fjords. Rooms were nicely decorated, lots of wood and earthly colors. Bathroom was rather small, no bath only shower and not really clean. Hot tubs for free on each side of the building, perfectly relaxing at the end of the day. Beds were ok, linen also. Curtains were insufficient to blind the room. Walls were paper thin, so we could here every move our neighbors made. Luckily they kept it quiet.
Staff was helpful and polite with the exception of the male receptionist. He was rather gruff.
We had a nice dinner (cod and shellfish soup) in the restaurant. Good quality food, well cooked, a bit pricey (but in Iceland everything is a bit pricey) and service was above average. Breakfast was a buffet, nothing special, but enough to start the day.
This was the most expensive Icelandair hotel (there are 7 or 8) we stayed in while on tour in Iceland.

The hotel is 4kms far from Borganes, so you need your own vehicle. Its a flat building with rooms looking to the golf ground and the parking. Afortunalety our bedroom looks to the gold ground. You have an small terrace.
The room was big, with TV and kettle, but the bathroom a bit too small.
The wifi wasn´t included.
The breakfast wasn´t incluided either, it was 3400 ISK....was ok, buffet but I had better breakfast around Iceland without paying extra!!.
The hotel has 3 hot pots open until midnight, but the staff didn´t aware us about that,so we have to discover by our own doing a walk.
The receptionist too quite....she even do a big effort to say welcome!!

Perfect little hotel, such lovely staff who were so helpful!!!!

Rooms were spot on just what you needed!

Breakfest and dinner were great and as we were both vege the chef created us our dinner from scratch which was lovely!!

The lady on reception even came out to as we were leaving to tell us which roads were good to drive on and seemed like she was concerned we were heading out in the snow!

perfect little hotel with amazing views of the mountains and not to far from the city!! Hot tubs were great aswell perfect for watching the stars n so peaceful and quiet!!

We wanted to get away from the city lights and try a hotel out in the nature. We did stay for 2 nights and we absolutely loved it ! Great service, clean and we got fantastic dinner. I was told they just hired a great cook from another hotel and they surely made the right move there :)

The hotel is not much to look at from the outside only because it is not meant to be a distraction amidst the beautiful scenery around... A gorgeous view of black mountains, blanketed by snow at their peak, a lake and a nature reserve where birds drop in...

There is an outdoor hot bath that is delightful to be in when you soak up the beauty of nature around you. You forget that it is below 10degC air temperature before you got into the water!

The rooms are nicely and neatly done with your own French doors opening to your own little patio.

Food is top class with local produce such as mountain lamb and langoustine. The owner also prepared skyr for breakfast exactly how her family would have done it at home!

If you are the type of traveler who want to soak up what Iceland has to offer without really wanting to risk not having a good meal after a long adventure-filled day, you are guaranteed a good stay in Borgarnes.

What's nearby: Snaefellsnes Peninsula, little town of Borgarnes to get some local culture at the Settlement Centre and learn about the Vikings and Sagas (and who would have thought that there is also a Filipino restaurant in town!), little treks to the Children's Falls (Barnafoss) and the Lava Falls (Hraunfossar).

Enough to stay overnight before heading east-south to see geysers, more waterfalls (Gullfoss, Oxara falls) and the historically significant Thingvellir/rift valley of the mid-Atlantic ridge.

Next rest stop recommended: Fludir!

This hotel alone is a five for service of the hotel staff, especially the new owner. My friends and I arrived at this hotel after a very long drive from Akureyri in a blizzard. We were so thankful to arrive and when we did the staff made it very welcoming.
This is a smaller hotel on a golf course so the lobby area was smaller then normal. We arrived the last weekend in November so the hotel was decorated very nicely for the holidays.
The rooms were a tiny bit outdated but we were informed they would be making some improvements to the rooms to add flat screen TV's soon. However all of the usual amenities were available in the room.
We were informed about the hot tubs that were on both ends of the hotel and without hesitation we agreed to test them out. We were given robs prior to going into the hot tubs which was a nice gesture. After the hot tubs we decided to sit in the dining area and have a cappuccino and enjoy the free WI-FI. We were also filled in on the northern light activity for that evening which I was able to view around 12:30AM....just beautiful.
We attended breakfast in the morning which was very good and had the usual options of breads, cereal, meats, cheeses, yogurt, juices and coffee. The check-out was quick and we were again greeted with the same friendliness as when we arrived.
I will certainly stay at this hotel again given the chance.
