A motel 1 km away from scenic Borgarnes, and a good base for exploring the area or making a stop on the way from Reykjavik to Snaeffelness peninsula. Previously called Venus Hotel, we were a bit wary after booking because we saw not-so-good comments on a couple of guides and sites, saying it was old and worn out. But it must have been renovated as it was clean, new, and sufficient. Spectacular views on the city at sunset. The restaurant offers good local food, even if the menu is a bit short. Buffet breakfast with limited variety (standard one in Iceland). Very helpful staff, made some recommendations for off-the-road sightseeing.
