The staff, the facility (room & restaurant), and location were outstanding. We didn't expect as much given that Bifrost is so isolated. But the room was extremely comfortable (although a little small) and staff was very accommodating - they even helped use the Iceland weather website to see the Aurora Borealis the night we stayed there.

We had a gift card for a weekend break for one night in Hraunsnef. We did not know what to expect but found the nicest, charming country hotel, with a live farm. Calves, sheep, chicken, ducks, etc. Not to forget the two curious and friendly dogs. The room was really charming, clean and well kept. Although the bed was a bit worn – at least on my side. We enjoyed the hot tubs and had a really good three course dinner at the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and nice. I can nothing but recommend this place. Lots to see and do in the neighborhood. We had bikes with us, which we rode to lake Hreðavatn – really scenic and nice. Also drove up to Hraunfossar and Húsafell, which has a lot to offer, in terms of hiking etc.

We booked this hotel thinking it would be a rustic yet somewhat elegant treat for our last overnight in Iceland. While the owners/staff were as nice as could be, and the place pleasant, it definitely wasn't kept up to the level of a 3-star accommodation. The washcloths were frayed, there was debris--old lumber, broken flower pots--around outside. The tiny, dim bathroom was outdated and the shower tended to flood. It is right off the highway, so not elegant at all. The room was quiet, just very very small and cramped. There is no sitting area except the bar, or your chilly outdoor deck. The hot tubs were not working at first, but the staff did turn them on for us, and we enjoyed it. The restaurant is nice. We only had breakfast there, which was adequate: $44 for two. I would not stay there again, but it is a good location if driving from the north toward Reykjavik. Wifi was working.

The hotel is great. It is a working farm and being surrounded by the animals really makes it a wonderful experience. The hot tubs are great too - you can soak and warm up with a lovely view. The only let down are the rooms, which are a little rustic and could do with a bit of sprucing up. Otherwise, this is a good place to stay.

We had lunch at Hraunsnef country hotel while travelling in Nordurárdalur with another couple, friends from England and Spain. We all ordered the special burger of Hraunsnef and two had the local beer. The burgers were very good, tasty and felt like charcoal grilled, loved the decor as well, service was friendly and the price is similar as other restaurants, all in all a very good stop and loved the burger.
