“Disappointing having read other reviews”

Stayed at Palm Bay last week. The hotel is closing for the season tomorrow (12th Oct) which could explain the staff's couldn't care less attitude and unfriendliness I suppose?? I read the reviews before booking and they were very favourable so I booked it. The hotel is in a very good position overlooking the very picturesque harbour of Sissi although the palm trees have taken over and feel a little claustrophobic. They also create a lot of shade around the pool so sunbathing is a challenge. As for the food breakfast was interesting at times with pizza being served one morning! Evening meals: the bains marie was not working properly so the food was not being kept hot. Nothing wrong with the food itself but it was cold and therefore inedible. We ate out in Sissi on a couple of occasions as we were hungry! Sissi is a lovely place with some very nice bars (Ormos) and restaurants. We had a great meal at Mike's Place which serves traditional Greek food with the produce from his own farm.

Room Tip: May be ask for a sea view otherwise you will be overlooking a lot of foliage

I enjoyed the beautiful gardens with lots of palm and lemon trees, on the outside looks like a piece of heaven.
Clean room with balcony, nice view towards the garden or the sea.( sometimes it can be invaded by ants, but the saff members are helpful and will change the room for u) .
Before booking this hotel , i have red a lady's complaint about the quality of food and thought she was too fussy - not anymore.
The staff were polite, friendly and happy to help, EXCEPT ( to my surprise!) the daughter of the owner of the hotel. I was unfortunate enough to meet her by chance, she was rude and had an aggressive attitude - never met this kind of behavior before. I still can't understand how someone who runs a business( or family member in this case) can treat the guests in such a manner!
Unfortunately Palm Bay is just a sad memory now and this is due just to one member of the staff, but a very important one, it seems!

Sisi is a small pretty place. Their are a few shops and lots of lovely resturants. Their are a few places to go for a drinks at night time. Palm bay itself was an absolute beautiful paradise. its Quiet and a great place to relax. The staff are polite, friendly and easy to talk to. The food is a buffet: Breakfast was brilliant lots of choice and Dinner is delightful again lots of choice and I found it so tasty. Some different greek food. you may be aware of other reviews on the food of it not being hot but I must elabarate that the greek people dont usually eat hot food due to hot weather. The room was clean cozy had all you needed, lovely views from the balcony and the pictures you see on the website it is as lovely as those pics if not better. We Thankyou so much for your hospitality and it felt just like home. David and Danielle.

This is the place to completely relax & unwind, you can lose yourself in among the palms & beautiful gardens. Someone commented about the palms needing cutting back, this is done late October & well into the following month, they just started doing this as we were leaving the hotel, most people I spoke to liked the seclusion of the palms.
Breakfast more than adequate, the evening meal to be desired (always cold) we ate out every night, To be honest I prefer to support the local tavernas. Overall a very nice clean hotel.

Room Tip: Upstairs on first floor are more open.

We stayed at the Palm Bay during the last week of September. Sissi is a lovely fishing village, with plenty to see and do.The hotel has a prime location, but the palm trees are out of control, and need trimming back. For example, you cannot see the old port area, and when you look up from the village towards the hotel, it's like looking at a jungle! The pool area is similarly affected, and guests try to shuffle to where the sun shines. Our balcony was completely overgrown, no view, completely dark, and harbouring mosquitos. As for the breakfast, plenty of it, but always cold.We even bought our own teabags to have a decent cuppa. All complaints were ignored, and one elderly couple, who were half board, resorted to eating out all the time. Thanks to Stanley, we did manage to obtain a more decent room with a view after two suffering nights. The hotel is tired, and needs new owners to give it a full revamp, at the moment, we would not return. It was not easy writing this review, but in truth, that iswhat we thought, and why we are disappointed.

If you are looking for a place to unwind , with eye smacking gorgeousness / choose Palm Bay Hotel. Will suit families , couples as well as the lone traveller like myself looking to chill , take advantage of the inspiring island to photograph & sketch whatever catches my eye.

Its a beautiful place to relax, with many eateries / bars / boat rides in & around . If you want a night to party , only a stones throw away in the busy Malia around the next Bay ....
look no further than Hotel Palm Bay , Sisi, Crete.

The bungalows almost all offer personal balconies or outside space , with room to enjoy an extension into the Hotel's beautiful garden and courtyard spaces.

Food is served buffet style .
Breakfast / catering for the many different chices across Europe.
Some of which, that may be outside what you experience in the UK. But within the buffet you will find the familiar items that make up a typical English breakfast.
The best Greek yoguurt I have tasted , topped by their fabulous honey, my personal favourite.

Rooms clean and in traditional Cretan style. Beds firm. Staff helpful & friendly if you make the effort , so do they .Need a taxi, advice , a trip out, local bus times , just ask. Everyone is customer focused.

Chances to visit all the local places of interest on a variety trips. I chose an Adventure trip up into the mountains in a Landrover that was incredible. Like being on a Top Gear adventure with crazy Captain Slow & Clarkson stand in's / laughed all day long and learnt about the real Crete , its history and ita people.

All in all everything together an unforgetable trip.Staying at a beautiful Hotel.

We spent one week in Palm Bay to relax. Before we booked the hotel, I have checked the reviews, and read a lot about food. But as everything else were found great by others, and as we wanted to find a quite place, we booked this through AnubisTravel.
Room was 181, first floor. It was simply, but clean. At the end of the day it was really warm, but during the night nice, fresh air came in, so we didnt need aircondition, only for one night. The only problem with opened windows is the noise. Not very noisy, but like normal sounds of living. Depends on your sleeping quality... I cannot sleep in noise, so after refreshing the room we closed the windows. Airco is 5 Euro per night, I think it is needed during hot summers! Would choose a room on street level. Cleaning lady came every day, and made a really good job!
Food was ok for us. Breakfast was very good, lots of possibilities. Dinner was also good, but we also missed some paper about what we eat. Would be nice to label the food! All in all food for us was really good luckily!!!
Location is great, garden is beautiful, the small beach was also perfect. With a longer walk you could reach two other sandy beaches, really not far away! Pool is nice, but some people always booked the sunbeds, which were quite annoying. :-)
Drinks were a little expensive, and depend on who made them (one was better then the other, although you ordered the same). But not too expensive compare it with other prices on the island.
All in all we spent a beautiful week in the hotel, were very lucky to choose this. Would recomend it!

Only things we missed: mosquito nets on the windows and doors as there are some, and they always came in the room. And a longer shower curtain in the bathroom, so the water could really stay in, and bathroom can stay dry! :-)
