Don't get carried away by the 5 star review as we base our holiday rating on what we wanted, what we expected and what we got. Typical Greek apartments are what we expected and these were clean and functional with basic furnishings and all with sea views. When we arrived we were met by Eleni who offered us a room that became available due to a cancellation but only for 10 days of our 14 day stay then a move back to our originally allocated room. The first room (205) was on one level on the second floor with 180 degree sea views from east to west. Small shower/toilet room but oerfectly functional and with plenty of hot water. We elected to stay on a bed and breakfast basis and we were not disappointed with this either. We were offered full English (bacon ,sausage,2 fried eggs, tomato, mushrooms and beans accompanied by toast and jams/marmalades and fruit juice and tea or coffee) OR continental breakfast ( Greek yoghurt with honey, cheeses slices, ham, croissant boiled egg, toast and marmalades, tea or coffee). You could also have a pick of any of the individual items and order it the night before for a certain time the next day and any time up to noon!!. No rush to get up early as there is no rush for the sunbeds of which there are plenty. The pool area is spacious and uncluttered and clean. The breakfast is priced in the menu at 6 euros each. The apartments are separated by a minor road between themselves and the rocky shoreline however the road only runs for a hundred yards to the rear of a couple of apartment blocks so there is little vehicular traffic.hence a very peacefull location. To the right you can see the entrance to the harbour which is only 5 minutes walk and where the small man made beach is which houses about 30 pairs of sunbeds and parasols. A further 5 minutes walk will take you to the other side of the harbour ,cutting through the Palm Bay hotel, where there are a good selection of tavernas and bars. There are a few tourist information centres which have car rentals starting at 30 euros a day, excursions and currency exchanges. The nearest supermarket is located about 300yds away, go up the side of the apartments to the next junction turn left and its about 40 yards from the junction on the right hand side. |Go a further 40 yards and you will come to the Knossos supermarket which sells a bigger range of goods including newspapers and has the bus stop outside. The bus runs once a day and not on Sunday. The bus times are on the bus stop and as I remember it comes at 0915hrs and travels to Hesonnisis and Aghias Nickolias. Back to the apartments, they are ran by a total of 4,Heleni and Vasilos who own the hotel, Jack the barmen and his mother Tassia who cleans and cooks. With only 17 apartments there is definatley a personal feel from all of the staff. All in all a great place to stay, for location peacefull but close enough to the resort centre. Great bar and sunsets. Good breakfasts, bar meals and evening meals. We got everything we expected and more. Cant fault the place at all. Air conditioning available at 6 euros a day but it was so quiet we slept with our shutters and windows open having taken the steps to reduce mosquito attacks and all we heard was the sea.!!!
