Having stayed in many 4* hotels abroad, we were aware that their rating system is different to the British counterpart, but this hotel is no way a 4*! We arrived at night to be told our room wasn't ready so we could stay in a room with our own pool for two nights then we would have to move. We would have to pay for air-con. 8 euros a day. I have never had to pay for air-con at a 4* all inclusive hotel before! While it was great having a private pool (shared with your neighbours) the room was very basic, (but clean). The bathroom was tiny with no room to swing a cat. When we moved it was two doors up-the room was the same as the previous one minus the pool. No balcony/patio area, just a small window. We politely complained to the receptionist that we weren't happy with our room to which we were told, you paid for economy so thats what you have got. We discovered we were sharing our bathroom with a group of ants, and later on in the week, a cockroach. Food wasnt great but mostly edible. We ate out every other night. The entertainment in the evenings was awful and the all inclusive alcohol wasnt the best ( one positive being the bar staff were very friendly), so we went to the bar next to the hotel - The Jolly Roger every night. All I can say is, thank God for this place! If you stay in the Sissy area-go here. The owners Dave and Danielle are lovely and very welcoming. I would stay in Sissy again but not this hotel!

This was our second visit to Sissy Bay Hotel and this time was even better than the first! Had a sea view room which may be more expensive, but totally worth it. The food was good an improvement on last year, though it can be a little crowded at meal times with the occupancy high. Staff in general are excellent, special mentions for Nikos on Tropical Bar day shift, Joe "Mr Entertainment" and of course Niko Pool Side Bar evening shift "Superstar". They all work hard to create a relaxing environment for a great holiday.

Sissy Bay is a lovely town and Crete is stunning if you take time to explore and the people are marvellous. We would definitely return hopefully soon.

We got back from Sissi Bay Hotel on saturday morning , what can i say that i haven't already? Not a lot really other than still as good, staff are still as nice and the food is good but as someone else has said before, a little too British at times. One problem this time that wasn't there last time, crowds of people gawping at the food taking ages to make up their minds on what to have and standing inbetween the tables and gassing for ages, but just a little problem, still love it. Next door is the best Pub in The World The Jolly Roger, Thanks Danielle and Dave,( and not forgetting the best Barman in the World,George), for being the best Hosts and for organising The 70's Quiz on our behalf. Sandra and Geoff (Ozzy Osbourne) Oldbury, West Mids.

Room Tip: Garden View.

Arrived very late only to be told that our room was not available until after lunch the next day. We were taken to a hotel just up the road called Castello and given the most horrible dark room, we had booked a sea view room at Sissi Bay. We were given a food voucher to get a cold plate at Sissi Bay that night but as it was 12.30 pm the All Inclusive did not apply so we were asked to pay for our drinks. I went to reception and said that surely we could have a cold drink as we didnt even have our room but was told flatly NO, no free cold drink, you must pay, see your information sheet, all inclusive over. Not a good start. The next day we found out that this is a regular occurance and the hotel is often double booked. We were there for 10 days and found some staff lovely, some grumpy and some, like the entertainment man irritating. Having said all that the hotel is very relaxing, especially around the adults pool and the gardens, the rooms are clean, the hotel is clean and the waitresses are lovely and the food is OK. We ate out three times around the harbour and the local restaurant on the road out of Sissi, all were very nice, beware of prices of fish as the price you see is per kilo not per portion. All together I can say that Sissi is beautiful and the Sissi bay hotel is nice, that is if you don't expect a cold drink on arrival and the room you actually booked.

Room Tip: All rooms looking over adult pool and gardens are nice

Arrived in the evening pretty late 23.00 , we where advised at this stage that in order to have aircon in the room it would be at a cost and safe is also additional. You would think at least the aircon in the room would be part of the fully inclusive package as this being a very warm climate and the room we stayed in never had a window just a large class door front . The shower was very tight and compact , not too accessible to the average male . the room it self was ample and always cleaned every day except Sundays.

The food served was of a 3 star basis due to the fact that they used the basic's of food ie processed cold meats and not proper whole ham/chicken/salami. We had at least 3 different types of meat dishes every night and also various veg and pasta dishes. I can only base my experience on the last fully inclusive deal I had in Greece and that was a 4 star basis also , this hotel offers everything you would require on a holiday , the staff are exceptional while the food is basic it is sufficient to every person. The mid morning and afternoon snacks where pretty poor ie. mid morning supposed sandwiches ( never found any ) and afternoon was cake at the bar on a tray...no free ice cream etc. for kids other than dinner time ..
the pools are all salt water and are brilliant for family and adults , all and all this was a great holiday but the food and room facilities let the score down ie. 4 star service and 3 star food options .

Again I can only gauge my experience on the other 4 star hotel I stayed at , we had a great holiday for a family of 7 .Spa etc is also at a additional cost and none of the spa is inclusive except for the small gym..

Room Tip: Ask for a room with atleast a window and big enough shower to turn around in or bend down to wash wi...

Our one week stay in scissi bay was a fab experience , the hotel and rooms where clean ,the food was nice but pork was on the menu every day ! The restaurant could be a little bigger for the size of the hotel but good service .
The pools were clean and the juccuzi was very refreshing after sunbathing in the heat and nikos from the tropical pool bar was always at hand with a nice cool drink ;) , didnt go for the entertainment as the pool bar was alot nicer to have a drink and a chat .
Must mention the jolly roger bar next to the hotel it is a great place to have a cocktail and watch the sunset with a english landlady , and they do english tea !!!
