“Excellent Holiday and a Beautiful resort great for unwinding and relaxing”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We have just returned from staying at the Sissi Bay Hotel, everybody was so helpful and the hotel itself was spot less. We did bed & breakfast which had plenty of choice. It was great to relax there we loved the relax pool where you could just do that. the shower wasn't that big and my only grumble would be that we had to pay for air conditioning. Sissi is a wonderful resort if you just want to relax and unwind, it's my 4th time there and it hasn't changed too much over the last 13 years, if you want a lively night life this isn't for you, but we would watch the sunset enjoying a cocktail or 2 at Ormos cafe on the Harbour. Missing it all already.

Having just come back from Crete June 4th after a week at Sissi Bay Hotel and Spa, I want to share our experience with all you who may be worried about booking up this place. Having not been abroad as a family for a few years, I was very keen to make the correct choice of place especially with our 2 daughters 13 and 15. I spent hours on the internet checking places out and looking at photos and finally came up with Sissi Bay and were we glad we chose this place. Not only are we very keen to get back next year, we have told so many of our friends and 2 are looking to go this year or next. We arrived by taxi ( 45 min drive from hotel, so don't book the coach ) and were welcomed so nicely by the receptionist. We were then taken to our room and as it was late, we were all given a plate of food. The next day, we were able to take it all in and although did not appear to have the room expected, were delighted with the fact that although it was a family room, our 2 daughters had a room of their own, with a balcony. We chose to go all inclusive and there was so much choice every day and plenty of it. Our youngest, is such a fussy eater and she managed to consume 3 good meals a day. The drinks were included and even though people have complained about plastic cups, this was only the case when by the pool. All drinks were in glasses when sitting down to eat or away from the pool area. ( makes sense ) All the hotel staff appeared to take such pride in their work and worked efficiently and always friendly. Our room was cleaned every day and towels changed alternate days. The hotel was clean and spotless and nothing seemed too much trouble especially with the receptionists. Even the maintenance man always had a smile and rescued our towels and swim wear off the roof on more than one occasion. This resort was perfect for us and such a beautiful area. We highly recommend the harbour especially for its cocktails and make sure you book the Cretan night, we had so much fun. Although we appreciate everybody has different opinions and view of things, I don't think you can go wrong with this place, unless you are looking for clubs and discos, then go to Malia. We want to thank the Manageress for running such a lovely resort and making our holiday one to remember.

Just returned on the 8th June 2013 from a seven day half board stay at this hotel and report the following.
Having read many previous reviews, my wife and I arrived at 12.30am and found that the air-con was a requirement for our room at a cost of 56 euro's which previous writers had advised but we still feel this should be included in the holiday cost.
The room itself was very spacious and included a kitchen with a full size fridge and kettle which was very useful.
The hotel food was excellent, service by the restaurant staff and cleaning staff was very good although we did find the reception staff a little 'frosty'
The facilities are very good, very clean pools and surrounding areas.
The Cretan Evening proved excellent entertainment and brilliant choice of food at an extra cost of 10 euro's per person but well worth the cost.
Check-out time is 12 noon, we asked for a later check out at 4pm but the cost was 22 euro's which we declined but overall an excellent stay at this hotel and highly recommended.

Me and my partner stayed at the sissi bay hotel for five days for a relaxing holiday away, and this is what we got. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and the staff were very helpful and friendly which is something we found throughout the holiday as they couldn't do enough for you and were all very smiley and happy. We were taken to our room when we checked in which was right at the end of the complex a little bit of a walk from everything but have to admit was very quite and the room was more than big enough for the both of us. We were given a two bedroom place, not sure why as we didn't book it but not complaining as it gave us more room, a large bathroom and huge shower! Also in the room was a sink area with fridge and some glasses and a kettle, although as we were only bed and breakfast it was a bit of a struggle if we wanted to have lunch or anything in the room as there was no cutlery or plates to use.

The views from all around the resort were beautiful if you looked one way you would see the mountains and the other was the beach. There was a maid service everyday and the whole place was very clear including the pool areas, room, and restaurants. We can not comment much on the food from the hotel as we only had breakfast there but that offered plenty of options and we ate at the pool bar a couple of times which was great value for money with big portions. There are also four pools there an indoor one, adults one which is very relaxing but not many sunbeds, a 'kids' pool which is where we were most of the time as there were lots of beds and the pool was big and the other pool by the restaurant which is did not experience.

If your going out for dinners the hotel is a short walk away from a lovely small harbour which has several restaurants that are all very good, and offer lots of choice with very fresh food!.

Room Tip: One tip is to get air-conditioning if you have extra money as it is very hot at night and the gnats...

My hubby and I have just returned from a week staying at Sissi Bay Resort. We had a lovely room (ask for room 410)overlooking the pool and sea.At night you could hear the waves crashing on the rocks below. It was just wonderful. The resort was lovely and clean, great pools, really friendly staff and the food was plentiful. Some of it a bit "strange" but always a good choice. We certainly never went hungry.Nice pub next door,The Jolly Roger" very friendly and good quiz nights.I would recomend this lovely resort to anyone who wants a nice holiday in a quiet location.Sissi is a little harbour town with all you want.Very pretty and "Greek"!!

Room Tip: There are garden rooms and sea rooms. The sea rooms are much better. The sitting out area with the gar...

This hotel was outstanding! With amazing views and the food was to die for, especially the puddings. With a salad bar full of fresh choices all day every day, a variety of mains with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals and fruit for breakfast. Chips, meat, fish, pasta, potatoes and much more for dinner and much of the same for lunch. The drinks were not amazing but as expected for all inclusive. As we did not find any alcoholic drinks that we were fond of we went for a wonder down to the harbour and found our favourite place outside of the hotel which was a lovely mini golf cafe and bar called 'the sunset bar' with a friendly woman called Tina that was easy to talk to and made the most fantastic cocktails -our favourite being sex on the beach. My other half was keen on trying blue lagoon which was made with bar cardi, he preferred vodka and Tina was happy to switch the alcohol and make it as he wanted. The mini golf was a brilliant laugh and fun for all the family. We also went on a half day trip on the happy train to milatos which was well priced at 15 euros. It took us into the milatos village and down to the harbour which had a lovely music bar called no name which served a refreshing beer. The staff in the hotel were overly friendly and the reception staff were always willing to help with any questions or queries we had. The rooms were cleaned daily, only left on a Sunday. The pools were lovely and we tried the indoor pool with an extra charge of 3 euros it was well worth it as it was a nice change and it was a chlorinated pool as the outdoor pools were salt water. We took part in a cretian night at the hotel which takes place every other thursday. It was an extra 10 euros but the BBQ was amazing and the show was entertaining. Overall it was the perfect holiday and brilliant value for money and I will be recommending the hotel to all of my friends.

Just back from a lovely 10 days holiday which went very quick even though there wasnt a great deal to do in the area. Rooms nice and cleaned every day, friendly staff, food average some day better than others. Joe the entertainment guy was great fun. Would recommend this hotel for guests who like a quiet holiday.

Would recommend a swim in the harbour and cycle hire to vist the beaches in Malia area.
