“Great family holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Stayed here 13 until 26 August 2013. Arrived around 10pm and we were promptly booked in. Impressed that hot meal available with drinks, served in restaurant. Accommodation was clean and suitable to family needs. The food was varied and excellent. Ate in both Greek and Italian restaurants, high standard and good choice. Pools clean and different depths available for varied ages. Very pleased we didn't have to get up early to use sun beds and there was always vacant beds throughout the day. Sissi beautiful village, lots of restaurants and pubs to use if you wanted a a change. Lovely little bay to swim and snorkel in. Stayed in a lot of all inclusiveness and this was one of the best we've used. Great bars and drinks available. Only downside is drinks finish at 11pm. Really enjoyed and would recommend.

Our family went to Vasia Beach & Spa for 6 days in mid-August 2013. We have 3 boys (ages 11, 8, 4).
All in all, we were happy with the hotel and we had a great vacation. It is not a 5-star hotel by regular (European or US) standards, but I would give it 3.5 stars, and priced reasonably.
We arrived at the hotel and we were given a room, which we were OK with. There was no view or anything, but we didn't expect anything special would be available considering we made the reservations 3 days before we arrived. The room was nice and very clean, but not too spoiling. It was like a mini suite with 2 rooms (which did give us some privacy and the kids some space). We actually prefer the room not to be "too good" so we will actually go out and do other stuff :-)
I heard 2 cases of people that made reservations for several separate rooms (in a single reservation) and were actually given a large suite with separate rooms for sleep but common bathrooms. In these cases, they didn't want to stay in these rooms, and we moved to separate rooms in the following morning.
The hotel is very clean, and well maintained. Our room was cleaned very well every day, and so was the rest of the hotel. As a matter of fact, all of Crete is very clean, even busy streets in the different villages and towns we visited. We had 2 cases when we had to call maintenance to fix something in the room, and they came promptly, and fixed it without a hassle.
There are 2 major pool areas with 2 large pools in each, and even though the hotel was at full capacity, the pools weren't too crowded. One trick people do there is go early in the morning and catch some sun-beds by putting their stuff and towels on them. However, we never had a situation where we didn't get a sun-bed. There are also 3-4 smaller pools in other areas of the hotel which were even less crowded. Also there are about 20 rooms with private pools. One downside of the pools is that the floor around the pool gets very slippery when wet. I saw quite a few children and adults slipping (or almost). I think they could have chosen more suitable tiles.
The hotel is very children friendly. It starts from the pools that are suited to children (various depths for every age), but even the height of the sinks in the public restrooms and in the rooms was low enough for my 4 year-old to be able to wash his hands by himself. There are also some children activities, which my boys chose not to participate in, but there were many other kids who seemed to have a great time in.
There is a very small beach a few minutes' walk from the hotel which is actually a man-made beach (they brought sand from elsewhere) and is in the Sissi village laguna. This means that boats come very close to the people in the water when they go in and out of port. There is another beach (25 minute walk or use the hotel shuttle) called Bufos Beach which is on the other side of Sissi. It is very rocky. Make sure you bring water shoes (can be bought fairly cheap – 7 Euros – in the shops near the hotel.
Another thing we liked about the hotel is that it is located inside a village, and a 10 minute walk (very nice) to the laguna and the village center.
We rented a car for 2 days. I recommend going to New-Line – a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Ask for George. He's very friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We heard complaints about the one just across the street from the hotel (I forgot the name) that they gave old cars without air-conditioning.
The only major downside of Vasia is the food. It was mediocre at best. The kids lived on Pasta and Fries for the whole week, and even we didn't find much that we could consider "tasty". If you're staying 7 nights or more in the all-included, you're entitled to a dinner at one of the hotel's a-la-carte restaurants. But I heard they are not much better than the dining room. There was way too much pork in every meal and it was all over the place. I assume it is because it is very cheap. There were almost no Greek/Cretan dishes to choose from. My best description for the food there would be low-level "British".
All in all, we had a great time and if not for the food, I would recommend the hotel whole heartedly.

Room Tip: There are rooms with sea view, that are more nice. Try to stay clear from the rooms facing the footb...

Such a beautiful place and the staff are amazing, they are so friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is plentiful and very tasty (but sometimes too salty). The rooms are spacious and very clean. There are loads of pools in different areas and also quite areas away from the kids. Don't need to be all inclusive as the surrounding area is full of bars and restaurants and just a short walk away from the harbor. Beautiful. We booked through Thomas Cook and it was just so simple.

We have just returned from a week vacation and we loved it The service is very good as well as the cleaning of the hotel and big family rooms!
Great food !
The Wifi is problematic as its restricted to the lobby and just 1 pool,
NO Slides which was problematic for our kids but the entertainment staff was good.
Hotel location: The location of the hotel is in a small beautiful village named Sisi, in order to leave the village and go in Crete, must rent a car. try Malia Cars - they are good. The hotel is located within driving distance of about 20 minutes Harsonisios, and 10 minutes drive to Malia. Beach is in sissy and close to the hotel,
All in all its a lovely quiet vacation with a friendly staff, enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sew view

We have just returned from a family (two parents, a 3 year old girl and 1 year old baby) vacation in this hotel that lasted a week. I should state that it is a great hotel and we enjoyed it very much. It is not your 5 stars all inclusive Turkish luxury hotel but a very nice Greek style club that suits perfectly families that just want to relax, have good time and alter between the beach and the pools, without having to concern about the food.

Pros: the service was perfect - starting from the bell boy who took the luggage with a cart, the waiters that work really hard so that you don't have to wait even a second that your plates are taken away or your drinks served, the cleaning lady that had to make up the mess our children left. Everything was on time, the hotel is clean and well maintained. We got a spacious 25 sq. m. room fit for our family members. The children beds were ready as we checked in. There is a nice beach 300 m. down the hill from the hotel with a sandy sea side. 7 euros for 2 sunbeds per day. They said there was a beach that the hotel guests were taken to by cart - we didn't get there as there was no necessity for that. There are pools of different depth so they can suit all ages, we even took the toddler to the kids pool. The location of the hotel is perfect - by the seaside promenade, a supermarket at the entrance and a small village of Sisi just 500 m away. We recommend you walk there after the dinner and have a glass of Metaxa or Greek coffee at one of the cafes by the seaside there.
Cons: there are some steps between different levels of the hotel without a board walk suitable for strollers, so if you plan to come with small children, ask for a room near reception as that is the only building without steps, otherwise you'll have to carry the stroller up and down dome 10 steps as we did, which is not too bad but still a bit annoying. Be sure to take your breakfast early enough to get the sunbed near some of the pools in the morning. We are not sure if this hotel suits couples or teenagers who are looking for more active time pass. We guess you can still rent a car or a bike and get to any activity you wish in short time.

All in all - a great hotel well worth the money.

Just come back from 2 weeks here and had a fantastic time. We booked through an independent travel agency as Thomas Cook weren't offering the rooms that we fancied, and can't fault the travel agents (miss Ellie's Travel)in the slightest. I've got loads to say about it so will list it!
Accommodation
We went for one of the villas/maisonettes with a small private pool and were really impressed with the standard of the accommodation. Immaculately clean, comfy beds (including "proper beds" for the children rather that converted sofas), linen changed and room cleaned daily, 2 big bathrooms with 4 showers in total. Lovely! We were impressed when we arrived at 9.30 in the evening and were ushered into the dining room for a meal while our luggage was taken to our room. Looking at the location of some of the rooms and their balconies though I think you could be quite disappointed. Probably worth doing a bit of research!
Food
The food was really very good. Something for everyone. Lovely salads, fresh breads, the usual chips/pasta/rice, lots of roasted meats. My particular favourites were the Greek dishes on offer each evening but even the fussiest of eaters could have found something to enjoy. Lovely desserts too and the ice-cream available round the clock was really good. Breakfast was lovely with omelettes/fried eggs made to order. You could get something to eat all day with lovely fresh fruit out at the snack bar to help yourselves too. I did feel that a bit more could have been made of the snack bar, perhaps offering burgers/hot-dogs etc for a lunch-time snack rather that having to put a top on to go to the restaurant but maybe that was just us having 2 children reluctant to be dragged away from the pool. We did end up sneaking toasties out of the restaurant for them in the end which worked well. The restaurant was pretty hot but we usually managed to get a table outside. We ate at the greek restaurant which was ok and at the Italian which was nicer. We had planned on going out for a couple of meals as we were there for 2 weeks but never had the desire.
Drink
Maybe the only downside. Water available from the bars usually tasted of Fanta or whatever drink had come from the "gun" previously. Cola/Cola light pretty horrid. All the other soft drinks seemed ok but all a bit sugary. Beer was perfectly nice and the wine was actually really nice. I debate the strength of the alcohol in the drinks but who wants a hangover on holiday!!
Staff
Extremely friendly and helpful
Location
Really handy for supermarkets and the usual tourist shops. Nice to be able to go for a stroll in the evening. If you are a beach person you would be disappointed though. The beach accessed via the hotel's shuttle bus was really stony. Not that good at all
Spa
We used this for a kid's massage which was absolutely excellent. A real treat!
Entertainment
It was perfectly ok. They tried hard! The daytime activities were quite good (water polo. volleyball, aerobics, darts etc etc) but the theatre -style evening shows didn't really do it for me. The atmosphere in the hotel though was so chatty, relaxed and friendly that you didn't feel you wanted formal entertainment
All in all, it was a really lovely relaxing, cosmopolitan holiday and we would definitely consider going again. Crete is a beautiful island and we really didn't get the most out of it as we spent so much time at the hotel!

Room Tip: If you can, go for one of the villas

We were at the hotel in 15 August 2013 for one week.
It offers lots of options:
1. Food: the food is reasonable and sometimes very good. We took the all inclusive package, and sometimes we overdo it with food ... After our return we started a diet :-)
2. Entertainment Staff: Good, has some attraction every evening, like bingo, and performance more (when we were at, there was a performance of the musical Grease performed entirely by the animation team).
3. Hotel location: The location of the hotel is in a small village named Sisi, in order to leave the village and go in Crete, must rent a car. The hotel is located within driving distance of about 20 minutes Harsonisios, and 25 minutes drive Agios Nicholas, which is a nice place and the village nearby which to cruise the island of lepers. Beachfront situated close to the hotel (not indexed) is not really recommended and to get one of the beaches Crete recommended to travel by car (or taxi).
4. Rooms: Rooms are very clean, spacious and it obviously depends on the room type you invite. We ordered a family room, suited for 4 people with no problem (a couple with two children).
5. Wi-Fi: There is Wi-Fi in the lobby and at the pool and the rooms, but the connection takes too long and I would suggest to the hotel to upgrade themselves in that light of growing demand for Wi-Fi. When we asked reception why the connection takes a long time to put on makeup and we were told that there are a lot of users and the network is congested.
6. Pools: Although many pools (I counted four, and another one at the spa), but most of the time the chairs are occupied by guests early risers. But that did not stop so because almost every day we were outside the hotel.
Summary
For those who read this review and for those who not: so very nice hotel, clean, highly recommended for families, enjoy ....
