“well worth a visit”
Reviewed September 25, 2007

Arrived at Vasia and was checked in rapidly and got taken to room on a golf like buggie by porter who carried luggage to our room .My partner and i were really impressed with our room ,absolutely immaculate and high quality ,everything just as new room consisted of twin beds with quality mattresses -wardrobe -bedside cabinets -dressing unit -air conditioning (with remote) fridge complete with welcome pack ,beers water and soft drinks-kettle with a couple of tea bags /coffee sachets and sugar-flat screen tv with lots of channels /films /discovery channel/sports/etc etc -PC with games etc (internet at extra cost £20 per week)-bowl of fruit /sewing kit/shoe shine kit.Bathroom /full size bath with shower /seperate high quality shower cubicle with multijet power shower /WC/latest style wash basin (ceramic bowl on marble vanity unit -large supply of toilet paper /many high quality white towels/soap/shampoo/foam bath/body lotion. Rooms serviced by maid everyday including sundays /towels changed constantly and beds changed every two days .Entry to room was by card in door lock card was then placed in socket to provide electric and was also used as a token for meals and drinks snacks etc .All facilities are top notch at least 5 outdoor pools and one indoor /masses of sunbeds /kick pitch /table tennis /air hockey /volleyball etc etc etc .Meals very varied at least a dozen choices at dinner ,pork duck veal crevettes whole fresh salmon etc etc etc sometimes spoiled by not being hot enough /multitude of starters /superb sweets.Breakfasts also good choice including english style .Lunch also a multi choice buffet and iff thats not enough snacks available 10-6 at poolside snack bar as were drinks alco or not at various bars (beer wine coffee etc at meal times pull your own ).Entertainment quite limited, very good singer thursdays Kenny Cortez .For a cracking lively night seven days a week a fifty yard walk to the sissi arms Adonis and Helen make you feel like part of the family and bonus on saturday night Kenny Cortez again (Helens dad) .Overall Vasia beach hotel is very good standard in all aspects ,staff very helpfull ,bar staff rapid .Area is not for lively 18 - 30 types and does lack some facilities but Malia and Hersonissos fairly close ,Car reccomended lots of stunning scenery and places to visit .You will NOT be dissapointed with this hotel but we can all find fault if we try . Five star debatable probably a certain four possibly given five because of the spa part of hotel that is definitely overpriced and does need addressing.Drinks tend to be a little weak because staff fill glass with ice and pump in mixer at same time as spirit ,easily solved order a straight spirit ie bacardi and ask for seperate coke (its that simple).

Just returned from a one week stay at the Vasia but although we loved it one week is probably enough as it`s a very small village with limited night life. The hotel animation team are super and do try there their best to include everyone in the activity programme but when there is bad weather, they should be organizing other activitieswhich they didn`t . If the Vasia really wanted to be recognised as a 5 star hotel then it should install an indoor swimming pool or at least let the patrons use their "spa" pool at no extra charge, a pool incidently no one used because of the inflated prices they charge for it. Food is great with good variety, but although we booked their Italian restaurant for a meal on one night it sadly lacks atmosphere and we were tempted to walk out again. Some Italian music in the backround and a candle on the table can make a difference. Our bedroom was in the new block and ultra modern.
Altogether a very enjoyable time spent here

Me and my boyfriend were desperate for a holiday and seeing as though we went to Crete last year and loved it we thought we'dgo again. I booked the Vasia Beach after reading some of the great reviews and lokoing at the hotel pics (i ignoed the bad reviews...just people being picky)!!!! We arrived at 8am after being delayed at the airport. we didnt mind...we jus got more pints in at the bar! we first arrived and to be honest the hotel doesnt look that great when you pull up. the reception area however, was nice and clean and the staff were very helpful. they took out bags down to our room. we had an amazin view. we were right down on the front of the hotel and looked straight out onto the sea...we dropped on VERY lucky!! the rooms were lovely and with a massive bathroom. the pool area was fanstaic. there are different pools to choose from but we liked a bit of entertainment so we went to the music and sports pool everyday. the entertainment was great during the day and you could get involved as much ora little as you wanted. the pool bar service was fantastic and they knew what we were drinking after going to the bar and making the most of the AI drinks during the first day. the food by the pool was great if you wanted an afternoon snack or a late morning snack if you missed breakfast. the food in the restuarant was also very good with chefs down the sides makin fresh food.they must work on a weekly rota as we found that the food during the first week was exactly the smae on the second weekbut we didnt mind becasue we thought the food as very nice and a very good choice available. the hotel also have 3 other restuarants that being italian, chinese and greek. we went to the chinese and italian nights. to be honest, the chinese nightwas not the best food and we ended up goin down to the normal restaurant to get the usual food.the night time enteryainment was either hit or miss but when it was am iss it was hilarious for that reason. the animation team did a great job of making us laugh too. the AI drinks were also very good and if you wanted more gin in ur tonic then all u had to do was ask...many people just moaned about it and carriedon moaning whereas we just asked and got what we wanted. then when the bar was shut we'd go down to the sissi arms. they apparently have a great sunday roast but we were too hungover t get it.oops!!it was a fantastic bar to go to with pool trable and great staff and great prices on drinks. we went into sissi a few times and it was lovely too.very quaint with a cute little harbour.i would definately recommend this hotel - you make a holiday what it is!! the hotel, food, pool, romms were all great.great location.great value for money.i enjoyed every minute and did not want to come home!!!

Stayed 28 Aug - 12 September 07. Lovely hotel, cleaning staff as usual very hardworking and kept the place immaculate. Gardeners on hand just about every day. We stayed all inclusive but had gripes about the meaning of "A.I.". I filled in a questionnaire when leaving and explained that if they took example from hotels in DominicanRepublic then they would realise that there are a very minimal all incl hotel. Breakfast was set at a good time 7.30 - 10.30 a.m. Lunch 1.00 - 2.30 p.m. Evening meal 7.00 - 9.00 p.m. Food was very nice. Drinks from the tropical bar by the poolside was available from 11a.m. - 9 p.m. I can understand them selling the alcoholic drinks in a small plastic cup but the other drinks needed to be in larger containers, otherwise it meant several trips in the dire heat to get more drinks. There was a warning note in the restuarant that they objected to containers being filled from the drinks machines. On arrival we were given an envelope which basically seemed to be pushing the Spa facilities, which were VERY expensive. If we saw 6 people in there during the fortnite we were there, that's saying something. It's way over the top. If the prices were lowered then I am sure they would get more people in there but I object to spending up to 180 euros for 1 day when I could use that money doing other things. The gym was available free between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. if you were staying on campus, but no one told us that, we actually went into the gym to ask how much it cost and found this info. We stayed in a family room which had a spiral staircase leading to a top bedroom which was massive, its own verandeh and a very large jacuzzi bath and stand alone shower cubicle in it - very nice. My 16 y.o. son had this room and the lower bedroom had twin beds, large lobby area with fridge and somewhere to place suitcases and store shoes, bathroom and p.c/tv. The charge for internet for 2 weeks was 60 euros which I thought was also a bit expensive. Thisis a 5 star rated hotel and one of the better 5* hotels Ive stayed in , in Greece. I usually find that the building works and decor could be better but this far exceeded my expectations in that dept. It was only after 5 or 6 days after walking around the complex that I realised how large this place is. The 2nd nite we were there, in the early hours a young child could be heard to be shouting daddy, then his voice got louder and he was virtually screaming for his father and crying and then we realised he was outside of his room crying for his father. Apparently it seemed that after all the news about the disappearance of children , it still has not affected some people and they would prefer to go out and leave the child in the room on his own. I heard another room door open and it seems someone must have taken him in. I must admit that the first week we were there, it seemed there were a lot of different nationalities there; and it was so peaceful but the 2nd week the English appeared. Do you know how I know, the language was disgusting, shouting at the top of their voices, drinking excessively and basically making a show of themselves. I was so embarrassed. And these were adult men!!!!! The temp. was in the 30s and the table tennis things are outside so it was impossible to do anything like that. I think it would benefit Vasia Beach if they built their own mini golf site as there is land around the complex rather than lose the buisness to the little hotel next door. (The people there were lovely by the way.) Also it would have been nice to have table tennis facilities indoors then when the weather is so extreme there is somewhere for the kids to go. They do have a pool room on the complex so I suppose table tennis could be put in there. There is an astro turf court for footie but the weather was so hot the game was limited to 30 mins. We travelled to Malia for shopping and then realised that the little Leather Goods shop next to the hotel had better stuff. Walk into Sissi town in the evening and you can pick things up from there and there is also a harbour there with various food places where you can dine any time of the day. All in all, Im glad I experienced that side of Crete but found that Chania had more to offer. I would prefer to do a week there and 1 week on the other side of the island. I only hope that the hotelier takes into account what was said on the questionnaire as with a little tweaking things could be so much better. They need to concentrate more on quality (by that I mean, A.I. to them means that you can get Vanilla and choc ice cream free but all the other ices you had to pay for. WHAT?????) In Dom Republic A.I. means just about everything is free and the different snacks you can get for 23 hours a day is amazing.

We were a family of 5 and we were pleasantly surpirsed with our accommodation as we had read some reviews before booking and had some mixed feelings, however on arriving we were shown to our room which had a living room with a bed settee and a computer which also doubled up as a DVD and a t.v, we had a balcony overlooking the pool, then we had a twin room for the kids with an additional bed settee and a balcony again overlooking the pool a family bathroom we had a double bed with an en suite shower and toilet and again we had a balcony overlooking a side street.

The rooms were very clean, modern and quiet, we did not hear our neighbours and we all had individual air conditioning units in each room.

The food was ample, a good selection and of a high standard after a week we gained a few pounds!!

On the down side their is no beach the nearest beach that the hotel takes you to is 10 min away but is very rocky and not suitable for young children. We hired a car and visited Malia which had a nice family beach with a good selection of kids areas such as kids pool, play area and changing room. The hotel is very popular with the Germans so be prepared to put your towels down early.

If you are looking for a good all inclusive family holiday then this will be ideal for you.

3 of us stayed at the Vasia, 2 adults and 1 child. The VIP Maisonnette was defiantely worth an upgrade, 2 rooms both with en-suite and a large balcony. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were very friendly. Some staff were less friendly however treat them well and polite and they will in return. We were advised that a Junior suite room would be well suited too. The rooms with private pools looked good but the sun didn't stay there all day!

The food choice was enormous, option of English breakfast, waffles, pancakes, fruit, salads and every meat under the sun, Pork, Lamb, Duck, Veal, Chicken, Swordfish, Crayfish and pasta's carbonara and bolognaise! Fresh bread at all meals! You get the option to visit a Chinese, Italian and Greek Restaurant, we only tried the Italian and were pleased with it.

Watch out for the mosquito's, they are there!

The entertainment was ok, the entertainment team work hard to cater for all, the children are looked after and if the kids are happy arn't the adults! I would definately go back, Sissi is lovely, we ate in Mamma Mia's twice, really nice family run business with fab steaks.

I would advise you if booking to ask lots of questions about the rooms you are booking, there is an old part to the hotel, for a few extra pounds pay for a better room!

My wife and I recently visited Vasia Beach Hotel, Sissi, Greece. We were very very impressed. Everyone knows that in Greece if it says 5 star it normally compares to about a 3/4 star by British standards but this hotel was pretty much up there. The decor was modern and light and the hotel was very clean. The food and staff were excellent and this hotel and resort represents very good value for money. We would certainly go back again.

The resort of Sissi is a great family resort and we would recomend it to anyone. There are lots of restuarants and bars ovwerlooking the bay. There is a great beach too.

This is a great hotel and resort.
