“Great family vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

We visited Castello Village Hotel for two weeks together with our grown up kids and their grandparents.
The hotel is very good located and we got two big apartments with a great view over both the pool and the ocean. We had ordered half board for both weeks The food and the service in the restaurant was very good and especially our waiter, Dimitris, was very excellent. Always present and very serviceminded. The table was always ready for us and he treated both the young family members as well as the grandparents with great respect.
The cleaning was great and a special thanks to our special cleaning woman Aggela for her hard work and smile on her face. It’s one of the best experiences we have had. If you ever come to Denmark Aggela, I have a job for you :-)
The staff in the reception was very helpful and a special thanks to Chrisa and Nikos for making our stay a good experience.
One thing we need to complain about though. The animator, Ahmed, was not our cup of tea. Very loud and did certainly not meet the standard of professionalism we meet from the rest of the staff.
The bar in the evening was also staffed with a very loud waiter and again this should be changed.
All in all a very nice place and the small town Sissi was a nice surprise as well.

we visit sissi twice a year and although we have never stayed at the costello, we visit the pool and bar area several times during our stay, Aggilos who works the bar is just the best barman in sissi, he is funny, pleasant, helpful and always has a smile for us when we visit, he has become a good "friend" over the years we have been visiting, there is a great choice and variety of cocktails and beer on offer, the music and lighting is excellent, the bar is clean and tidy and is open long hours. Corina is the best barlady in sissi, she is always smiling and very helpful, this is a winning team and we look forward during our holiday to spending time at the costello

We spent seven days in Castello Village in June 2013. We had a very good early booking offer, through a TUI agent of Romania, for a studio. Arrived in reception, for a plus of 120 euro we received a nice apartment with balcony and sea view. We rented a car through Internet which we picked from the airport, but we noticed that in Sissi were better offers. On the street with the hotel, we counted five establishments renting cars... Mostly without clients.
The parking is not a problem, except for the evenings, when both tourists and employees are leaving their cars around the hotel. The apartment we had was spacious, with a kitchen we did not use except for the refrigerator, always full of the noname beer you can find in the supermarket face to the hotel for 3 euro a box of four. And the still water, for 50 cents the 1.5 liters. The beer in the hotel bars is a bit expensive (3.5 euro the half liter) but sometimes happy hours and other offers are occurring.
The variety of the food is not really big, but everything is tasty, looking good and served carefully. The public areas are cleaned regularly, the same as the rooms. It is true, sometimes insects are present, but k'mon, it is a village, not a Palace... As we were warned about that, we took some Baygon from home, but we never used it.
The resort have also an animation team, made only by two persons: Ahmed, from Tunisia, a real professional in animation and a very communicative person, ad Kinga, a Hungarian young lady from Romania, in her first year in this business, but very warm, willing to work hard and extremely loved by children. In some nights, special shows are organized. We enjoyed most Mister Magic.
A lot of families with children were there. If you don't feel OK around many children, Castello Village it's not quite the place to be...
The beaches are not far. Boufos is the first one, sandy, but with plenty of stones in the water. Avlaki, the second, is stoney, but it can be used as parking in order to go to the third one, called Spiliada or Kalimera Kriti, on Blue Flag standards, which is the best. Here you can have two sunbeds and one umbrella for 11 euro per day.
Definitely, Castello Village is a place we will come back. Many thanks to Mr. Nikos and the two nice ladies of the reception, to Mrs. Kerassia and to Dimitri from the restaurant, to Corina and Angelo, from the bars, and to Kinga and Ahmed, the animation team, for the fun. And greetings to the many Romanian working there and in the Castello Boutique hotel and spa from vis-a vis.

Room Tip: Go for the apartments.

The people who own this hotel complex clearly understand the importance of investing in good staff. At whatever level you chose to look, whether it was the people staffing the front desk, to the waiters who hovered around at breakfast and at the poolside during the day to those responsible for the entertainments and the children's holiday programme we encountered a helpful, hospitable attitude that made this a very special and relaxing holiday.

The initial room we were booked in to was very close to the road and on the noisy side. However, there was no difficulty about moving. We ended up getting Room 371 and while it was clearly in need of new decor it had the advantage of being quiet, private and if you so desired you could leave the front and balcony doors open to provide you with a cooling breeze.

We were on a bed & breakfast tarriff. Breakfast was fine, typical of a hotel serving guests from a variety of backgrounds. There was plenty to eat and the only mild criticism I would have here is that within the last 30 minutes of the scheduled breakfast time some food items would run out and you would need to ask for them. We took the opportunity on a couple of occasions to book in for an evening meal in the restaurant and if you wanted to try Greek things to eat there would be choices to select to see if you liked them before visiting local tavernas just down the road on other evenings.

While we were there most of the guests appeared to be German-speaking along with a few Dutch people. However, the staff (apart from the cleaners) all spoke reasonably good English and we had no problems with communication. If you are a gym enthusiast you are able to use the facilities across the road at Castello Spa & Boutique. All things considered this was a good, relaxing holiday and after a cold winter it was great to see the sun. However, my abiding memories are of the staff whose friendly and helpful attitudes made a positive difference.

We stayed a week at this hotel from 11 September 2012. We reached the hotel in the early morning, the night person on duty showed us to our room. We could not believe how poor the room was. When we booked we were lead to believe it was a 4 star and had A/C, but this first room smelled, the a/c did not work, had mold in the shower room, it had a really tired look about it, it had 2 single beds and the room was not even 2 star. We complained as soon as soon the manager came on duty. Luckily for us one of the newly refurbished rooms became available that morning and we were moved into that, which was acceptable. Otherwise our holiday would have been ruined. All the rooms only have single beds which can be pushed together to form a double bed, even then they slide all over the place. The reception staff also said that the a/c was not included was really annoying, especially at time of booking I double checked to ensure that a/c was included. I had to insist to the manager that I had paid for it and must have the a/c.The service was generally good, the restaurant staff are helpful and there is plenty of choice for vegetarians although the food is nothing special. The juices at breakfast are watered down!

Room Tip: Rooms: Gave 2 star because of the first room, if you are fortunate enough to have one of the newly r...

We booked the hotel as a late deal and it was really good value for money. We had to pay to upgrade the room as the studio we were given was in a dreadful position and we ended up with a large room with seperate bedroom and large balcony. The kitchen facilities are basic and we didnt use them but we had a fridge which was handy. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. The food was good and the selection was plentiful. The staff were so helpful and friendly and really made the effort to make our holiday enjoyable. The beach is a short walk away and was a small cove which was lovely. A few shops and restaurants about a minute walk away and a supermarket opposite the hotel. all in all we had a quiet relaxing holiday which is what we wanted, if you want a lively holiday I wouldnt choose Sissi as a resort.

Room Tip: do not book a studio. we paid to upgrade to a sea view apartment on arrival at the cost of 120 euros...
