We traveled to the Lincoln Boyhood National Monument in June 2008 while we were in the area visiting Holiday World and Splashin Safari. This National Park is very inexpensive as it was $5.00 for a family and that was good for 7 days if we wanted to go back. The main building was nicely done and had a good movie. We then toured the grounds which were well kept. It might be a tough walk in the heat and humidity of summer, but it wasn't too bad the morning we were there. The grounds contain a working farm with animals and actors who are dressed for the time period. One thing that was a little disappointing was the cabin that Lincoln built with his father is not there (anymore). However, there is an outline on the ground of where it stood. I know it has been a long time since Lincoln lived there, but it would have been neat to see the cabin. This, like many other attractions in the area, is isolated and is a little bit of a drive off the Interstate, but it is a good look at the early life of our 16th President.

A small film to watch, a long tour, and lots of hands on learning make this one of the best historical sites to bring your family. The guides are helpful and make the experience very fun.
