Review of Lincoln State Park

We stayed at Lincoln State Park over Labor Day weekend. We got in late, so had to set up our pop-up in the dark. The sites have lots of trees, so that made it hard. The restrooms are well kept and the beach was fun for the kids. Overall, a nice campground.

Spent a week in the campground and was very pleased. Very clean and well maintained. Great camp hosts. Like a lot of state parks, rig size might be an issue. We have a 40 foot 5er and had a great site but there are some sites we wouldn't be able to use. Ask for a large site when reserving. Holiday World & Lincoln's Boyhood Home are nearby. Restaurant choices are very limited in the immediate area as is Verizon Wireless service. My son and his family stayed in a cabin and I would describe the as rustic trending to hovel. A place to sleep but not much else; a step up from tent camping but not a big step. All-in-all, we will likely go back for another round of the water park at Holiday World.

We spent two nights at the Lake Lincoln Electric/Water Campground. We tent camped, and it was very nice to have water and electricity at the site. The sites were really clean, shady, and large. We had three sites in a row for our entire group of 12 people. A total of 5 tents. The fire ring/grill was really nice and easy to cook on. The shower houses were close to our sites, but we didn't have any trouble with noise or traffic. The showers were not the cleanest but they WERE clean and WARM. Was nice to take a warm shower on an unusually cool evening. We will definitely be returning to camp when we are in the area again. We visited Holiday World, and planned to explore the lake and State Park the next day, but rain messed up our plans. The lake and beach looked really nice, and we plan to see and use it when we come back. I would recommend you visit this campground for sure. Happy Travels!

We stayed in one of the Lake Heron cabins. It was rustic, but perfectly clean when we got there. Definitely bring utensils and cups, but the fridge, stove and oven worked great. Air conditioning was very comfortable. We stayed there while we went to Holiday World for a few days. Because it is in the woods, it was easy to track dirt in.
Sitting outside on the screened in porch and drinking coffee was very relaxing.
The office closes at 4:30 PM, but they are on Central time (not Eastern).
We built a fire a few days and roasted hot dogs, but the raccoons are definitely fearless. Both times when we brought out food they came over to visit. Be prepared if you cook out that you will have visitors.

Enjoyed this beautiful park and hiking trails around the lake. Also took in the many historical tributes to Abraham Lincoln.
