It was $50 for two of us to eat. The staff was super friendly, no complaints there, however I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The atmosphere is comfortable, but I felt it was a little to dim in the restaurant and would have liked a bit more light. Extremely close to the Hawthorne Suites, so it was very convenient for us.

Spezia, Omaha is located on South 72nd Street, just north of Interstate 80 and 200m past the Ramada Convention Centre - blink and, quite literally, you will miss it - which would be a shame as it would definitely be an opportunity missed.

From the initial, and eye-pleasing, welcome to the superb service and quality of food, Spezia has a lot to offer lovers of Italian cuisine - without the pretentiousness of some Italian restaurants. Spezia clearly knows that it is an Italian restaurant in America; as a consequence both the service and many dishes have a distinctly American 'feel' (take calamari with jalapeno peppers for example) - and that's a good thing!!

Following the (large) calamari starter I feared that I was destined for a standard US-sized meal with the subsequent feeling of over indulgence for the remainder of the night. However, the insalata caprese was superb (and a nice size) with some incredibly fresh and fragrant basil. The main course of gnocci alla pollo (chicken with potato dumplings in a Gorgonzola sauce) was stunning, the chicken had clearly been grill-roasted prior to tearing into the sauce - another 'Americanism' that brought something special to what was already a great dish.

As if those platitudes were not enough, 4pm to 6pm every night is Happy Hour with half price drinks; consequently my (numerous) bottles of Peroni cost less in a restaurant than you can buy them in a UK supermarket - I suspect my initial enthusiasm will be somewhat tempered tomorrow morning however!!

So, why not 5 stars you ask - that's easy....the best Italian restaurants are in Italy; so Spezia is one of the very best Italian restaurants that I have eaten in outside of Italy.....and that's not a bad recommendation really is it?!! Try it yourself, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed - and neither will I when I go back on Friday for Happy Hour!!!

I was coming here for a going away party, and Garmin was helping. I drove right by the place coming north from I-80 - you really have to look for it.

Once I got there, the service was good, the food was good, and the company was good. I ordered a glass of their house red wine, which was just fine.

The food came out fast, and was cooked properly. The atmosphere was pretty nice inside as well.

Always like to enjoy happy hour with half price wine and cocktails before ordering dinner. Wide variety of choices from salads, chicken, seafood, pasta and delicious steaks. Steaks prices have gone up here like at most restaurants. One thing I wondered is why we never see a manager walk through and ask diners about their meals and service? At many nice restaurants this is appreciated. .

Years ago I was stationed in Omaha with the Air Force and went to Spezia and thought it was excellent. That opinion has not changed! The menu allows you to choose from Italian to wonderful seafood dishes that are LARGE and very well prepared. The service is attentive and know their dishes. It was nice to be passing through Omaha and getting to once again have a wonderful meal at Spezia.
