Pros: Distance from highway and Old Market area. Very clean. Free, very good choices for breakfast. Nice decor. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Free shuttle that runs until 12pm, it will go within 3 miles of the hotel, which covers a lot of the Omaha downtown "hotspots". The shuttle also goes to the zoo.

Cons: Very small room (we had a king bed)-I've actually never stayed in a room so small, while it didn't really bother us, I think it's good for travelers who expect more space to know. Location-while it is conveniently located close to the highway, Old Market and the TD Ameritrade Park, it sits farther back and right on the railroad tracks in what I would call a "sketchy" area. We regularly saw homeless people passing by the side and back of the hotel, and the stores (pawn shops) and bars around seemed a little out of place. I have to be honest, I didn't feel very safe back there.

Overall, it was a decent stay. If the hotel was located elsewhere, I would have given it 4 stars.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us! We've had some staffing changes and wanted to reach back to last year’s reviewers. We appreciate your positive comments overall. We truly value your feedback and comments like yours enable us to improve the quality of our product and services on a daily basis. I’m disappointed to learn that you felt somewhat unsecure & safe with the area.

We take the safety and security of our guest seriously. On a nightly basis we lock our main entrance at 11pm. In addition we do have security cameras that are monitored and have a new Night Manager that addresses guest satisfaction and safety concerns.

We would like to invite you back to our property again if you happen to visit Omaha. We have a complimentary updrade to one of our Executive King Suites waiting for you alllowing additonal space for you and yours!

Proximity to the zoo, and Old Town was great. Easy access from the highway, price was very reasonable. Staff was very courteous, breakfast bar was kept clean and well stocked even though the hotel was very full. Bed was a little firm, but comfortable.

We chose this hotel due to the proximity and shuttle available to the airport. It's a great spot if you were going to the TD Garden as well, within walking distance and there are numerous restaurants near by. The Old Market is about 10 blocks away.

I found the hotel to be clean and rather new. We stumbled in on a night that the movie channel was down, and the computers in the lobby were sluggish when we tried to print tickets, so I'm not sure if it's an issue they face often, but it was troublesome for us. The walls are thin and while we didn't see a whole lot of people when we were coming and going (and those we did see were business professionals) the noise of children screaming and running up and down the hall by our room was enough of an issue that I broke out the Ambien to try and get some rest before a long flight. It was bad enough that I would potentially try another hotel before booking this one again.

The stay was great up until we had a bad experience with the 'courtesy' shuttle after dinner in Old Market. Long story short - we called for the shuttle at 10pm and did not return to the hotel (which is 1/2 mile away) until 11pm. During that time we'd got the run-around as to the whereabouts of the shuttle. No cabs could be found and we didn't want to walk because we didn't have proper shoes, it was balmy 92 degrees, and the area is somewhat sketchy late at night. To top it off we picked up another passenger who may have been an employee's friend and he got in my face in a threatening manner when we arrived.

They offered no apologies for the deceit and inconvenience. Needless to say we will never visit again...

The hotel was very nice, did not need to have much interaction with the staff (that's a good thing) clean, very family oriented so lots of loud kids which is okay if you are a family with kids. Rooms were pretty quiet, just the public areas. Could use a better bed but at $99 per night you cant expect much more. For Omaha a very good value

Four families were meeting in Omaha for a funeral. We all live long distances from each other and wanted to stay together. My sister made the reservations and requested that we all stay on the same floor of the hotel. Brother-in-law and niece got there first and checked in (they were on the fourth floor). Sister and I pulled in and found our we were on floor 3 and that the fourth family (with small children) would be on the 2nd floor. Wow, we just missed having all four floors covered! After much coaxing we were able to get the fourth family on the third floor. Now, these reservations were made directly with the hotel (so that a booking office snafu could not be blamed). And, when we pointed out the mistake they didn't seem just real anxious to accomodate us. They did, finally, but only after we nagged and nagged and nagged. One shouldn't have to nag! Also, don't believe your lying eyes. Pool exercise is important to me, the pool picture looked like I could actually swim. Two strokes would have taken me across the pool. Pout Pout Pout.

Room Tip: The suites are definately worth the extra $$$$

Our management staff will use your experience as a training tool to prevent this from happening in the future. We hope if you are ever in the Omaha area again, you will give us another chance so we can show you just how good our customer service team is!

The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Downtown Omaha is one of the several "new-style hotels," located
just a block from the new baseball stadium (where the College World Series and concerts are
held), the CenturyLink Convention Center, and a very doable walk to Omaha's famous Old
Market, abounding with great and diverse restaurants, downtown parks, and other concert
venues.

It sits just a vacant lot away from the Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites. Each of these hotels is built in what I call the "new style." They have contemporary and cozy
lobbies and breakfast areas. The rooms have a very warm, home-like quality, with the floor plan nicely divided into functional spaces. While most of the rooms are not much larger than a standard hotel room, the design and flow of the room makes it feel like a small home. The design has a great attention to detail, with contemporary geometric designs and (in this case) in vibrant shades of green. My room also had two glass art pieces, which I haven't seen in comporable hotels.

It's an extremely pleasant hotel.

This hotel is in a developing part of Omaha, but within a short time I'm sure that most of the
undeveloped properties around the hotel will be filled with other new hotels and restaurants.
The hotel does provide a shuttle for the most desireable areas in downtown Omaha and the
airport, so getting around is easy.

The breakfast includes mircowaveable breakfast sandwiches, cereals, waffle machine, fruit,
muffins, bagels, juices, and some very nice coffee. The choices are not extensive, but they're
good.

Room Tip: I like the higher floors in any hotel that I choose.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with our hotel. We always welcome all comments from our guests so we can continue to strive for excellence. Every staff member works very hard to make each and every guest feel welcome when they walk thru our front doors. You are correct in saying we are in an area of development, which we continue watching our fine city grow and we are certainly pleased to be located right in the heart of all the excitement.
Thank you again for your comments. We look forward to seeing you next time you come to Omaha.
