Hyatt staff waived their charges for the night that was lost due to a major storm. I was far away, had my flight cancelled and another flight cancelled and then it was too late to call and cancel the room. Technically, they were supposed to charge me for that night, but decided not to,

Interestingly, this was decision was made by a front desk employee without any consultation with her manager. This suggests that either there is a management policy in place or a culture of leadership that enables employees to make such decisions. Either way, if only more hotels were like this...

The room was extremely comfortable. The Old Market area where the hotel is located is a great place to be in the evening, with many steakhouses, restaurants and shops. The hotel also cares for travelers with its efficient shuttle service to the airport and various places in the city where they need to go.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a bus tour. The hotel is well located in the Old Market area and close to several very good restaurants. The interior décor is contemporary and attractive. The rooms are also very attractive and comfortable, and the mattresses are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the initial housekeeping left a bit to be desired (when we checked in we found old food in the refrigerator). However, housekeeping during our stay was adequate even though they didn't replenish the "amenities" after the first night. There are ice machines on only the 6, 8 & 10 floors, so be sure to get on one of those if you want something cold to drink. The breakfast is outstanding - good food and nicely presented. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a problem with the TV reception - not all stations available in the bar area are available in the rooms (i.e. FSNKC).

Room Tip: Select a room on Floors 6, 8 or 10 if you want easy access to an ice machine.

This is a very nice hotel in the Old Market. The only drawback would be that there are only two places to park while checking in, so my husband had to drive around while I checked in. Self-parking is $10, which is what you should expect in the Old Market. Breakfast was great with French toast, egg muffin sandwiches, and biscuits and gravy. The decor is very modern. It's a bit pricey but everything downtown is that way. It's a very nice hotel, although I will say we didn't check out the pool since our kids weren't with us. Our king room had a couch area, which was nice. I would recommend this hotel.

There are a lot of positive things to say about our stay at this hotel. First off, the location is fabulous. So many good restaurants and fun shops in the Old Market area within easy walking distance. The room was spacious and quiet with a very comfortable bed and a cosy sitting area for watching TV. The free wifi was reliable and easy to access. We found the hotel staff, for the most part, to be friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The free breakfast offerings were pretty decent. We really appreciated the free shuttle ride to and from the awesome Henry Doorly zoo.

The downside occurred when we came to the realization at almost midnight on the 3rd night that the a/c was not working. The fan was blowing but it was 80 deg in the room. When we called down to the front desk we were assured that the issue was no doubt because the a/c was linked to the room sensor and that leaving on the TV while we slept was a "solution" that had worked for other guests. Huh?? We were too tired to argue so tried to sleep in a warm stuffy room. Next day while we were out at the zoo the hotel maintenance man switched out the thermostat but we found the room still at 80 degrees when we got back from our 4 hr zoo visit. The thermostat was changed again and the coils cleaned but a/c still wasn't working. The very gracious maintenance man said he would go get a cart to help us move to another room but 30 mins later we got a phone call from the asst manager offering us complementary drinks while our a/c was being worked on. When we relayed that we expected to be moved to a different room, we were told "that is not possible." His explanation was that the hotel was overbooked so no room was available. At that point, we decided that it was time to checkout and make the 3 hr drive home since we had little confidence that the a/c was going to be fixed that night. While waiting to speak to the asst manager, we relayed to the front desk staff what had happened and what we were told about no room. Both employees looked very perplexed about what we had been told about no available room. We had a very terse conversation with the asst manager who tried to talk us into staying and said they would move another guest to accommodate us. We said that our car was packed and ready to go and we did not feel right in inconveniencing another guest. We also expressed doubt about the a/c getting fixed in time to assure a comfortable night's sleep. He agreed to our not being charged for that day/night as it was already 6:30 p.m. We left on cordial terms but we were disappointed that our initially very positive experience ended on a sour note.

Room Tip: Check to make sure that everything in the room is functioning as soon as you get to your room.

We stayed on a Saturday night. Hotel is fairly new so everything is still nice and shiny. Very pleased with our room, good size, clean and comfortable, good room shades. Staff was helpful and polite. Close enough to walk around Old Market and downtown area.

Room Tip: East side rooms have view to Old Market and can see across the MO River to Harrah's Riverboat ca...

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Omaha. I had never stayed at a Hyatt Place before. There is on-site parking for a small fee. The elevator takes you right from the parking garage to the lobby and then up to your room. Breakfast was delicious with both hot and cold items. There is a coffee/bar setup in the lobby area. Coffee, drinks and food were all available if you wanted them. Rooms were beautiful. I had a great view of downtown Omaha from my room. If you are coming to Omaha and need a welcoming, clean, safe hotel, I highly recommend this Hyatt Place.

Room Tip: I had a beautiful room at the end of the hall facing downtown. Request a higher floor for the view.

Hyatt Place was a great stay. We will be back as it did not disapoint. The location is right in Old Market you can leave and walk around and be back to your hotel room in 5 minutes. Breakfast could have a few more selections but it was still great. It is nice to be able to park your car in the parking garage and being able to come and go as you please because it is very hard to be able to find a parking spot at Old Market on the weekends. Rooms are clean and cozy. The beds were a little hard but still a good nights sleep. Only thing disapointing is that we had a room right across from the elevators. Request a room on the high floors to get rid of some of the noise from Old Market night life. Although the first rooms you can have start on the 4th floor or so due to the parking garage included inside the building. Elevators are a bit slow but we stayed on the 10th floor so it had to go all the way down first but you have that at any hotel you stay at. We WILL be back!!!! We loved this hotel and its location.
P.S. Make sure you try Ted and Wally's right across the street!

Room Tip: Request a high floor. Request a room not by elevators.
