We gave the rating of Average, because Good wasn't an option. We think it's better than Average. That said, we were greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable young lady who made us feel right at home. Husband had one Barbacoa taco, I had one portabella taco, and we each had a mahi mahi taco. Our fave was the mahi mahi, but the others were close seconds. The tacos were full of ingredients and packed with flavor. We went during Happy Hour (a nice surprise) and got a buck off each taco.

The atmosphere was just what we expected with a name like Voodoo Taco. It was very fitting, nothing fancy, just right for tacos. We had contact with two employees and both were very friendly and accommodating.

We'll go again and try different tacos and sauces. We didn't notice any tables that needed clearing or cleaning. It seems to me that they've taken customers' concerns seriously and made improvements.

We certainly recommend Voodoo Taco for the person who wants something a little different and many choices.

I think this restaurant has potential if they train their servers and line cooks. The tacos were pathetic. The steak was so firm that I couldn't bite into it. The basket my food came in was disgusting. I don't even want to know the last time it was cleaned. There was a group of 5 of us. Everybody in my group came up with the same conclusion: this restaurant was a waste of our money and we won't be back.

The place still seems to be in the just opened stage. Most of the employees we had contact with did not know the answer to our questions. Service was slow even though there were 7 employees there and only 6 customers. Our food was OK. I got a barbacoa taco and a green chile taco. The barbacoa taco had a lot of shredded beef, BBQ sauce, fried onions, cheese pablana peppers and pico sauce on it. It was very flavorful and spicy. My other taco, the green chile. was loaded with shredded pork carnita meat, green chiles, onions and cheese. This was by far my favorite. The meat alone was worth the visit. I hope that in the future they will weed out their problems. I will try back in a month or so.

Voodoo Taco is new to our area, opening about 2 weeks ago. You order and pay at the counter, are given a number and your food is brought out to you. We were there during the first week and figured they were still working the kinks out. Service was slow, food was mediocre, limited seating due to tables not being cleared.

We decided to give them a second shot. The menu is basically tacos with a choice of flour or corn tortillas though you are not asked which type you want and they don’t tell you about their sauces. Both tortillas are from the bag and rubbery. I ordered a smoked brisket taco and a norteno taco. The smoked brisket was tender and flavorful, and the toppings plentiful. The norteno contained fajita steak. When ordering I told the cashier no jalapenos. Once seated my husband reviewed our receipt and noticed she had marked it “no avocado”. Another trip to the cashier to tell them “no peppers, but yes to avocado”. Service was slow and it took over 15 minutes for our food to arrive. I took a bite of the norteno taco and could not bite through the steak, thus with the steak hanging out of my mouth the entire taco pulled apart and fell into the basket. I was finally able to summon a server and explained the problem. She didn't know what to do and had to call another server over. I explained the problem again, showed him that every piece of steak was tough. I could not bite through the meat, so I could not eat it. He said he would have them remake it. He went into the kitchen and returned to our table saying “this is the way we make the steak here”. What, uneatable? I finally asked if they could make me another brisket taco, which they did and had it out to the table quickly.

The servers are either missing in action or wandering around the dining room. They don’t seem to know what to do, but there are areas not being attended to. There was no ice in the beverage machine, no iced tea, no forks. It would appear that the staff is not trained properly or the restaurant is not managed properly . . . or maybe both. Tables were cleared faster than on our first visit but the floor was not clean. The other BIG area of cleanliness concern was the way food was served. Each taco is served on top of a foil square in a plastic basket. Servers do not use trays to serve the food or to bus the tables. Baskets containing used napkins, leftover food, used straws, etc. are stacked when the table is cleared. Food being served is stacked, basket on top of basket. We noticed this when other tables were being served. Fortunately our 4 baskets were not stacked, but the majority of others were. We looked at the bottoms of our baskets and every one had food and grease on the bottom. This would indicate the baskets are not completed washed between servings and dirty basket bottoms are being stacked on top of food being served. A sure way to make customers sick.

We welcome Voodoo Tacos to Omaha, have eaten there twice but don’t plan to eat there again or recommend them. If they are remiss on serving food in clean baskets, we would hate to see how clean their kitchen is kept. Not a safe place to eat folks.
