My husband and in-laws visited this restaurant and were not thrilled. The menu was quite large but the food was not very tasty. My mother-in-law's veal was below average. My pasta and my husband's pasta was average, and my father-in-law's seafood was pretty good. My desert was innovative but again not delicious. The atmosphere is quite nice and the service was good. It did not live up to the hype.

My husband took me to Vivace on Friday night as a late Valentine's gift. We like many of the restaurants in the Old Market, but hadn't tried this one yet. It was wonderful! The service was just what you'd expect in a high priced restaurant, but the prices were not high.

We started with calamari and my husband thought it was probably the best he'd ever had. The portion was very large - we took half home. We both had Ceasar salad that was very well done. The waitress was aware of our progress and each course arrived when we were ready for it. We both had a pasta dish from the regular menu - the Parma Rosa is just perfect. The dinner specials change every couple of weeks and we'll be back soon to try some of those. My husband ordered his pasta dish with two sauces and when it came to the table the waitress noticed it only had one sauce. She took it back to the kitchen and the dish was corrected very quickly. None the less, she offered us our choice of dessert "on the house" due to the mix-up. Not the type of treatment you find as often as you should these days, in my opinion, and it really left a nice impression for our first visit. Our choice was a marbled brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce that tasted like chocolate covered cherries. It was unique and very tasty.

The total for our meal was less than $50 including a glass of very nice chianti for me and a mixed drink for my husband.

We love to try new places and this was definitely a success.

I lived in Omaha for 2 yrs (after 5 yrs in Houston) & Vivace is hands-down my FAVORITE resturant in Omaha!! The waitstaff there are always flawless, ie: their previous job was not at a fast-food joint, the food is always to die for...forget the diet for one night!! along with a fabulous wine selection & yummy desserts you just can't go wrong here!!
I've gone here for business lunch, with friends in town for a birthday dinner, on a date with my boyfriend, Vivace has NEVER let me down!!! Sitting outside on the patio on a Friday night in the summer is one of the things I miss the most since moving back to Boston. All I have left to say is go try it, your first visit will NOT be your last!!!
