“The best Indian food in Omaha”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2009

Always wanted to try some authentic Indian food. After tasting their special briyani at their new branch at oak view mall Id ecided to check out the restaurant. The staff at the mall suggested to try the week end buffet. It's such a feast for a person who never knew that there exists so many varieties of Indian food. We have to wait for few minutes to get seated and I was so convinced that they must be doing well. The restaurant was almost full and the staff were so efficient. It was clean for such a crowded place and the service was good. The manager was so friendly and she made sure to make contacts with every table. When we had questions on the Goat curry and the contents of it , she arranged us to talk with the chef. We had so much of food all for $11.99. I would gladly say that it's the best indian food I ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait for the weekend to try it out again.

“The Best Restaurant in Omaha just got better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2009

Ah, the Sitar, a popular restaurant filled with Indian cuisine in the heart of America. As you sit down, the waiter/waitress comes to your table and says "Welcome to the Indian Garden." And then you realize that your favorite restaurant has changed hands. You want to go home and sulk in your living room, but curiosity gets the best of you. You order the mild chicken curry, and, when you take a bite of your food you are pleasantly surprised that your favorite restaurant just became the Indian Garden. It is almost mandatory that you send your compliments to the chef.

“Not worth it”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2008

We read a great review of the India Garden in the Omaha World Herald so we decided to try it out on a Saturday night. The table clothes were stained and very dirty. The service was extremely slow. We almost left because it took 15 minutes for some one to wait on us. They didn't get our order correct and the food that we did get was very dry and the portions were extremely small. There were also no refills. We are not sure what the critic in the newspaper was talking about!

“Can't recommend it.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2008

Our group of six met at 6:30 PM on a Tuesday and entered a nearly empty restaurant (only two other customers, never a good sign). While the service ranged from fair to good (depending on the individual and timing), the food could best be qualified as poor to fair. The "salad" that comes with an entree was a very small collection of shredded cabbage, a piece of green pepper, two small carrots (not very well scrubbed) and some sort of mayonnaise-based dressing. The entrees themselves were sufficient in quantity but lacked flavor and quality (my wife had to remove an unknown foreign object from her Sag Paneer). The nan and kulcha we ordered were again sufficient in quantity but lacked any characteristic to recommend them. The Indian Garden did not have a liquor license and we were not offered drinks other than the water that was served. The men's bathroom was poorly maintained and the towel dispenser dangled from the wall. Having visited a number of Indian restaurants in Omaha and other cities, I'd have to list this place on the lower end of the scale.

“Worst Customer Service and Food in Indian Restaurants in Omaha - New Owners also”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2008

This is one place I would recommend avoiding strictly if you are looking for a fresh, healthy food and atleast average customer service. Especially for buffets, for sure the food is re-used and not fresh and you can affect your health for sure. Customer Service of horrible. The old owners were very good but new owner is so rash that we asked him about a fresh bread in buffet and he told us to keep our expectations low for a buffet. Forget the reasoning, his talking was so unprofessional I have ever heard. Same for all the waiters, they dont even greet you with a smile whereas if you go to Jaipur or India Oven, owners make you feel like home and their food is cooked fresh. I guess the only reason why most of folks and Indians go to this restaurant is because no other Indian restaurant in Omaha offers an elaborate Indian food buffet. High time somebody like Taj or Jaipur should start a decent buffet and this restaurant should be closed or owners be changed. Only if you are desperate to eat all varieties of Indian food in $ 10 and dont care about service or hygiene since you are really short of having that kind of option available in Omaha then only you would go to this restaurant.
