“Getting Better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

This was our second visit, on a busy Saturday night in prime time. We only had to wait five minutes or so to be seated. The restaurant is lovely, if a tad noisy.
The food was definitely a step up from our first visit, which was good as well. I had the lamb two ways, a half rack and a shank, osso buco style. Very tasty, and well-complimented with foraged mushrooms and lentils. My wife chose the planked salmon, served with a rich root vegetable purée. Both of us chose to start with the $4 side salads which are an option with entrees. Everything was fresh and delicious.
The service was also helpful, prompt and competent, giving us assistance with both food and beverage options. The wine selection is good, if not very deep.
I have only one complaint. I started the evening with a glass of bourbon on the rocks. I noted on the bill a $1 charge for "rocks". Really? But overall, a top ten or so restaurant in town. Recommended.

“Great food & Cocktails”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

We went to J Coco's on a weeknight. Our family had to move our original reservation back two hours and the hostess was very accommodating. To make the service even more impressive when we arrived earlier than planned (about 30 minutes before our reservation) we were seated almost immediately. It was really nice. The atmosphere and decor is cool and the waitstaff were prompt, knowledgable and cheerful. We started with cocktails and beers on tap. The cocktails were less in price than the wines, so that's why we decided we might as well try that. They were excellent & creative. The beer on tap selection is not expansive, but you could find something for almost everyone. The food is really good at J Coco's and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the menu is not entirely clear about portions and how and what to order. We would recommend ordering an entree and a side (at least). If you simply order an entree, you don't seem to get enough of the delicious food. With a salad and entree we were still hungry after the meal. At our table we tried the sea bass special, cedar plank salmon, and beef medallions. All of these entrees were excellent. The special also came with a bit more food so that might be a good way to go. We will return and would happily recommend friends to go to J Cocos.

“Amazing Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

This place is near my work, so we go here on a regular basis. The food is always perfectly made, and the service is outstanding. This is a very popular lunch destination and fills up rather quickly, so if you're going, you should go early. They also make reservations. Dinner is also served and is amazing

Great place to meet friends! Exciting venue and great decor!! Moderate to high price, but very much worth the value. Super for the new 'in-crowd.'

“Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Our first visit to J. Coco was even better than we had hoped. There were four of us, and all agreed we would definitely return. Starting with the atmosphere, we were amazed how the former neighborhood grocery store was transformed into a quaint and contemporary eatery. We were there over two hours as we enjoyed multiple courses and didn't feel rushed. The restaurant was full the whole time. Quite the hopping place to be.

The service was fantastic! Our server and the manager, both named Scott, were very attentive and made sure our experience was top natch! We were also VERY impressed when Jennifer, the owner and chef, came around and met us. She then helped bring the entrees to our table! Great touch.

The food was truly amazing. We had the tuna and calamari as appetizers. Both were fantastic, and my hubby who is not a calamari fan had seconds. For dinner two of us had the sea bass and two had steak or steak medallions. Wow! All were yummy. The sea bass was nothing like I had ever had before, and I made myself eat it all. It was too good not to!

J. Coco is a dining experience you won't want to miss. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but it is worth it! We will return!!
