“Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere”
Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Our first visit to J. Coco was even better than we had hoped. There were four of us, and all agreed we would definitely return. Starting with the atmosphere, we were amazed how the former neighborhood grocery store was transformed into a quaint and contemporary eatery. We were there over two hours as we enjoyed multiple courses and didn't feel rushed. The restaurant was full the whole time. Quite the hopping place to be.

The service was fantastic! Our server and the manager, both named Scott, were very attentive and made sure our experience was top natch! We were also VERY impressed when Jennifer, the owner and chef, came around and met us. She then helped bring the entrees to our table! Great touch.

The food was truly amazing. We had the tuna and calamari as appetizers. Both were fantastic, and my hubby who is not a calamari fan had seconds. For dinner two of us had the sea bass and two had steak or steak medallions. Wow! All were yummy. The sea bass was nothing like I had ever had before, and I made myself eat it all. It was too good not to!

J. Coco is a dining experience you won't want to miss. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but it is worth it! We will return!!

“Had high hopes...”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The pedigree of the owner/chef is stellar in Omaha and I looked forward to this lunch. I wasn't pleased with the wait staff at all - either she was too busy to properly look after us or simply disinterested. The meal choices sound enticing, but we misfired with our choices of Cobb salad and croque monsieur. The wine by the glass is a bad buy - high priced, but small pour. They do not accept reservations, which is always a drawback for me but perhaps other folks will be willing to wait up to an hour for seating.

Four of us went here for dinner last night. We all ordered sandwiches which were amazing. I had the Croque Monsieur which is the best I've ever had. I ordered the frites as my side and they were equally delicious. The place was packed at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday night which say a lot. We will definitely go back as we saw a lot of interesting dishes go by our table as we ate. Can't wait to try the pork belly appetizer!

“Delicious but expensive”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is a wonderful place to dine for a special occasion. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The food is beautifully prepared and presented. Be sure to make a reservation as it is a popular place. We had reservations and had to wait 30 minutes for a table to clear on a weekday evening. The prices for an entree are reasonable UNTIL you add on a bottle of wine, salads, and desserts which brings the total with a tip in the $250.00 range for 4 people.

Five of us had an incredible dinner at J Coco last night. This was the first time at J Coco for four of us. Each of our meals were creative and delicious. We shared an excellent Calamari appetizer. We also shared sides of Pommes Frites with truffle aioli, parmesan cheese and herbs. They were perfect, as were the Brussels sprouts, roasted cauliflower, mac & cheese and garlic creamed spinach. I ordered the Iowa Lamb. Wow! All of us felt the same. Our server was personable and exceptionally good at her job. She was a great help with our wine selections. J Coco is now on our regular-places-to-dine list.
