We hit the Lauritzen Gardens in November, so most of the leaves (most = all but 2 or 3) had dropped, and some of the annuals were already pulled up. However, a lot of the shrubs and bushes were still going.

Part of the path is blocked, since the City of Omaha is finally getting around to spilitting the sewers off the storm drains, but we still got in a good walk, as we worked our way around for a look.

Watch your step on the paths - the place is populated with all sorts of critters, and they tend to leave droppings on the path. We saw some wild turkeys contribute to this effort.

In any case, visit earlier in the year, to get more leaves, more color, and more flowers.

Adult Admission: $7 per person.

We went during the fall. The flowers and Koi pond inside were nice. But there was absolutely nothing to see outside. I realize during the fall and winter things die or go into hibernation and re-bloom during the spring. But don't charge full price when there is nothing to see. I felt ripped off and as a new resident, I won't go back.

Lauritzen Gardens Omaha's Botanical Center is one of the finest gardens and architecturally pleasing centers as it relates to coexisting with its natural surroundings as you'll find anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. There are many thematic gardens located throughout the acreage and something for everyone, including an electric train that runs in a little "canyon" designed especially for the delight of children (and train afficianados). World renown artist Jun Kaneko's beautiful sculptures also can be found here. A true oasis of peace and tranquility overlooking the Missouri River!

The Botanical Garden is a quiet place to view beautiful displays of plants and flowers. I visited when the Corpse Flower was blooming among other times. It was so very interesting. Special displays during the holidays make it a fun place to go year round. It boasts a small eating area with top quality foods and a gift shop offering lovely items.
