A very nice collection, especially of western art. A nice place for a cultural experience in Omaha and also some great special events are often scheduled there

If you find yourself in Omaha, I recommend a visit to the Joslyn Art Museum. For a mid-sized regional museum, it has many surprises to offer the art-lover. The 19th century French collection, of both a ante-garde, and Academic painting, is quite strong. The Native-American collection is also very good. Impressionism is seller presented, including the original plaster of Degas' 14 Year Old Ballet Dancer. A small, but quality Contemporary collection brings the holdings up to the present day. The beautiful building is a 1931 Art Deco treasure built of pink Georgia marble. In the early 1990's, an addition was designed by Sir Norman Foster and Associates, the first building built by this internationally-renowned firm in the United States. There is an interesting and varied sculpture garden as well. This museum is definitely worth a visit.

On a gray winter day, Joslyn offers salvation. It is a beautiful building where you can savor the art, sip a glass of wine, and lift your spirits.

Very decent museum for a middle size town like Omaha. We enjoy the different exhibts. The newer building blends well with the original construction

Omaha's Joslyn Museum is a treasure more Omahan's should visit, and it should be a must-see for visitors to our city as well. A fantastic display of art and artifacts from this part of the country...a real history lesson. A few years ago when I was in London and met an art dealer/critic, upon learning I was visiting from Omaha, Nebraska, said "You must be very proud of the Joslyn Museum". He has never visited Omaha, but he knew of the museum by its reputation. I found that to be a wonderful compliment to our city! Join...or go on Saturday mornings when admission is free. Enjoy coffee or lunch there as well, and don't miss the Chihuly-glass display!
