My wife and I have just returned from our Honeymoon in France. Trip Advisor was a great tool and la Maison Poynder was a great find. Jenny made us feel like family with great breakfasts, good advice, and personal touches I'd expect from a favorite aunt (not a hotelier). The classic provencal house has been expertly modernized and decorated. Our bed and bedroom were the best we had in France. The bathroom was larger than most Paris hotel rooms, with a large tub looking out over the elegant back yard and pool. L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a wonderful starting spot for day trips in Provence, and a comfortable place to return for a glass of local wine ("17," trust me), perhaps a Michelin dinner (la Vivier), or simply Provencal pizza at a street cafe. And, of course, Provence is special. Gordes, Senanque, San Remy, and Aix are all next door. Avignon is also close (worth a half-day) and the Pont du Gard is just beyond.
Provence was a good second-site for our trip to France, a good contrast to the haute city of Paris. If you go (the TGV alone is a good experience for Americans), we strongly recommend a stay with Jenny in her home, la Maison Poynder.
